Conferences deal with connectivity that is changing factories

The Internet of Things, IoT, is showing up everywhere now. It is in news articles, in commercials. When you are in the restaurant, you can make sure you locked your front door. But does all of this connectivity open the doors to crime, both in a consumer and an industrial setting? Security and the Industrial Internet of

Things will be one of the topics in the upcoming Industrial Internet of Things conference October 15-16, 2014, at the Schaumburg Convention Center, Schaumburg, IL. Other sessions will deal with workforce implications of an increasingly connected automation infrastructure and how the Internet of Things could change product design. Updating and converting legacy systems in manufacturing space is another topic to be covered in the conference program.

In addition to these, there will be a full day of conference sessions on 3D printing, including new strategies, materials, and applications for 3D printing. On the medical side, the MD&M Chicago conference will cover the latest innovations in medical device design, as well as technical training for the medical device industry. New this year is a full day devoted to the "Connected Digital Health."

These conferences sessions will take place in conjunction with UBM Canon's co-located trade events: ATX Midwest (formerly known as Assembly & Automation Technology Expo), Design & Manufacturing Midwest, MD&M Chicago (medical design & development), and PLASTEC Midwest.
