Its printing resolution, UV inkjet printhead technology and high-definition CMYK inks afford photo-level imaging for food and beverage labels, industrial and safety labels, point-of-purchase labels, drug labels and many more label applications.
Add white to the design palette
Screen specially formulated the Truepress UV flexible inks to be durable and highly resistant to light, abrasions and chemicals. The single-pass, wide-gamut CMYK inks enable a natural finish and higher level of quality even for label designs with subtle color differences.
Complementing the CMYK inks with optional opaque white ink as under color, over color or screening introduces a wealth of creative possibilities. Users can configure the Truepress Jet L350UV as a CMYK press and upgrade to white ink later as their application needs evolve.
White ink applied behind full-color images makes the printed label pop. A little white added to the highlight areas generates a fantastic artistic touch. Clear synthetic substrates containing white text or a white panel under a photo make for a strong and bold presence. Alternatively, white ink on a pastel or light, metallic-colored label stock provides a soft look. The high opacity and consistent coverage across the web increase the impact of the label.
Corona treatment for substrate versatility
The new inline corona treatment system increases the surface energy of polymer-based label stock. Polypropylene, polyethylene and other polymer-based materials have low surface energy, which retards ink adhesion. Corona is an electrical discharge that modifies the surface energy of substrates. Corona treatment prior to the application of inks allows the Truepress Jet L350UV to print consistently superior images on coated labels, synthetics, films and metalized substrates.
The web cleaner, with its combination of a cleaning roller and adhesion roller, effectively removes dust, paper particles and powder. This device ensures consistent corona treatment, low press maintenance and stable, uninterrupted operation.
Finishing flexibility
The Truepress Jet L350UV is engineered as either a roll-to-roll press for near-line finishing, or auxiliary equipment can be incorporated to finish the job inline. Integration with third-party finishing systems automates the process of lamination, die-cutting, foiling, coating and embossing.
The Screen exhibit at Labelexpo Americas 2014 will feature demonstrations of Screen's JetConverter L350, a new label-converting line for the Truepress Jet L350UV. The JetConverter L350 provides high-speed processing of label stock at speeds up to 209.9 feet per minute. The modular system includes semi-rotary flexo printing and coating, semi-rotary die-cutting with 25.5-inch magnetic cylinder and various options for cold foiling and laminating. The JetConverter L350 also offers a one-contact waste matrix stripping module and scissor slitting module mounted with lift-out knife shafts.
Huge potential in short to medium runs
With its outstanding print speed and efficient workflow, the Truepress Jet L350UV makes print jobs of a few hundred to several thousand labels that are unprofitable when printed on conventional presses highly profitable. The Truepress Jet L350UV prints crisp, vibrant images and precise text as small as 4 points at a top speed of 164 feet per minute (or 173.2 square feet of printed labels per minute). The press handles roll media from 3.9 inches to 13.7 inches wide. Each printhead features four levels of grayscale with a minimum droplet size of 3 picoliters and 600 dpi resolution.
