Tritan gives consumers BPA-free option
Wanting a tough, clear material for an extension of its Go Green line of food storage containers, Kinetic turned to Eastman Tritan™ copolyester. Kinetic, a cookware manufacturer based in Englewood, N.J., selected Tritan, a new-generation copolyester, not only for its toughness and crystal-clear clarity but also for its dishwasher durability, odor- and stain-resistance and because it is free of bisphenol A (BPA).
The Go Green Tritan line features products made entirely with Eastman Tritan™ copolyester. Line items include water pitchers and food storage containers of various sizes with superior impact strength. The lid design of the food storage containers provides an air- and liquid-tight seal to protect and help keep solid and liquid foods fresh up to three times longer than competitor products.
Excellent BPA-free option for consumers
An advantage of using Eastman Tritan™ copolyester for Kinetic's new Go Green product line is that the material is BPA-free. Kinetic sought out a BPA-free material to meet consumer needs.
"We've seen more consumers move toward BPA-free materials because of environmental and safety concerns," said Sally Choi, vice president, Kinetic. "Although glass containers offer clarity, these products are easily breakable and heavy. "We chose Eastman Tritan™ copolyester not only because it's BPA-free but also because of its glasslike qualities — odor- and stain-resistance and lightweight — making it an attractive alternative for home food storage."
Cost-effective, superior product
Transporting and warehousing products made with Eastman Tritan™ copolyester has been more cost-effective for Kinetic than conventional plastic or glass. Glass stored on pallets can easily break and is heavy to transport. In addition, products made with alternative plastics can easily scratch when being moved and shipped. Because Tritan is lightweight and scratch-resistant, Kinetic has been able to save on transportation and replacement costs.

The Go Green line is sold and distributed to major retailers in the United States and Canada, including to TJX Companies, whose stores include HomeGoods, T.J. Maxx and Marshalls. The product line is also available through Amazon. With the success of the Go Green Tritan line, Kinetic plans to convert many of its product lines to Eastman Tritan™ copolyester. Additional Go Green product line extensions include mixing bowls, water bottles, canisters — even pet food storage.
