Epson Brings Collaborative Printing Demos and Workstations to the Studio at SIGGRAPH 2014

Epson to Host Interactive Course on Design Tips for Digital T-Shirt Printing

Epson will be showcasing its latest printing technology and solutions at the Studio at SIGGRAPH 2014. The Studio is a collaborative working environment that brings the latest technologies and brightest minds together to learn, experiment, and create.

Epson printers will be available for hands-on use at the Studio and are the primary 2D printing solutions featured throughout the duration of the conference, from Sunday, August 10 through Thursday, August 14 at the Vancouver Convention Centre in Vancouver, Canada.

"We are thrilled to have Epson join us again in the Studio at SIGGRAPH, helping attendees experience several different types of interactive printing technologies and applications," said Courtney Starrett, Chair, Studio at SIGGRAPH 2014. "Whether printing original artwork or photography created pre-conference, or using Wacom tablets to create new printable concepts on site, guests can try out a wide array of printing techniques ranging from t-shirts to large-format posters to panoramas on a 13-inch printer."

By visiting the Studio, attendees are able to try out a wide variety of printing technologies, techniques and media with help from experienced hands. Epson will be showcasing the following printing solutions:

Epson SureColor® F2000: Attendees will have an opportunity to make a design to print directly onto a t-shirt using the Epson SureColor F2000 direct-to-garment (DTG) printer. Equipped with Epson UltraChrome® DG ink technology and the Epson PrecisionCore™ TFP® print head, the SureColor F2000 delivers precise and repeatable performance, image quality and high reliability with the ability to print directly onto garments – t-shirts, hoodies, jackets, tote bags, and more – ranging from 100 percent cotton to 50/50 fabric blends.
Epson SureColor® T7270D: Leveraging a combination of precision and performance with dual-roll capabilities and Epson UltraChrome XD pigment ink for brilliant, crisp output, attendees will have an opportunity to print large-format prints up to 44-inches wide.

The R2000 will be used in different printing areas of the Studio, including printing characters or images on glossy ready-to-frame 13"x19" media.
Epson Stylus Photo R3000: Visitors will be able to leverage the advanced features and quality of the 13-inch Epson Stylus Photo R3000 printer to create large-format high-resolution work. Produce lustrous 13"x36" panoramas on canvas media with UltraChrome K3® with Vivid Magenta pigment ink that delivers gallery quality color output.

As part of the SIGGRAPH Studio, an in-depth interactive course – Design Tips for Digital T-Shirt Printing on Monday, Aug. 11 from 2-3 p.m. in the West Building of Exhibit Hall A – will be conducted by Eddie Murphy, part of the Epson Professional Imaging product management team. Class participants will learn the details and work hands-on to understand the special design considerations that need to be taken into account when working with DTG printers. The attendees will then take their finished designs to be printed on the Epson SureColor F2000 Direct-to-Garment (DTG) printer in the Studio.

"Epson understands the importance of education and collaboration to drive innovative digital media creation and high quality printed output, and the SIGGRAPH Studio is an ideal venue to demonstrate hands on approaches to printing," said Murphy. "In the Studio there is no shortage of unique printable projects, and we're excited to showcase a range of professional printing solutions, including 13-inch professional photo printers, a 44-inch large-format color printer and a purpose-built, direct-to-garment inkjet printer, along with a wide assortment of media."

In addition, Epson will be showcasing the next-generation SureColor T-Series large-format color printers at SIGGRAPH in booth #625. Designed to not only meet the specific requirements of today's engineering and scientific professionals, the SureColor T-Series incorporates the latest in printing technology – including the Epson PrecisionCore TFP print head and Epson UltraChrome XD pigment ink – to create accurate large-format prints well-suited for a variety of projects and applications, ranging from animated drawings, CAD drawings and GIS Maps to corporate graphics and retail posters. The SureColor T-Series 36- and 44-inch printer models offer an optional multifunction (MFP) module, enabling PC-free full color scan and copy capabilities – up to 36-inches wide – at best-in-class speeds.

Epson will also be demonstrating several new and compelling augmented reality apps on its Moverio BT-200 smart glasses in booth #523. Epson's Moverio smart glasses are changing the way companies do business, and the way consumers experience content. When paired with creative new apps from developers, the Moverio BT-200 can visually blend the physical and digital worlds together, spurring new possibilities and innovations.
