Ricoh unveils new color multifunction products with full capabilities for mobility, sustainability and security

42 ppm A4 MFPs' compact footprint ideal for small to medium workgroups

Ricoh Americas Corporation today announced the new RICOH MP C401 and RICOH MP C401SR color multifunction products (MFPs), offering all the capabilities of Ricoh's new intelligent MFP platform in a compact footprint.

The devices help companies more efficiently capture, transform and manage information to support the growing necessity for information mobility – enabling employees to access information from anywhere and at any time to make critical business decisions in today's rapidly evolving workplaces.

Ideal for offices with limited space, the RICOH MP C401 series is capable of printing documents as large as 8.5 x 14 inches in resolutions up to high-quality 1,200 dpi. They can serve as standalone devices or as part of a networked fleet in an enterprise business information solution. Along with a small footprint – 24 inches wide x 22 inches deep for the RICOH MP C401SR, which includes 250-sheet internal finishing – the MFPs offer far more power than a desktop MFP, thanks to their robust document handling capabilities, along with a panoply of standard advanced features to drive your office productivity forward. They also meet stringent new standards for ENERGY STAR 2.0 certification, and have earned an EPEAT gold rating in the US market.

"The MP C401 and MP C401SR are specifically designed for the new world of work," said Matt Sakauchi, Vice President, Technology Marketing, Ricoh Americas Corporation. "These powerful yet affordable new MFPs are optimized to mobilize information, putting it directly into the hands of the worker who needs it, precisely when they need it, offering a wide range of usability, security, cloud and sustainability features."

Operation can be a tablet-like experience with a new optional 10.1-inch-wide Super VGA Smart Operation Panel offering drag-and-drop, pinch-flick-and-swipe action. With the optional Browser Unit, the panel provides access to cloud-based document management and printing services through Ricoh's Integrated Cloud Environment (ICE). Users can scan documents and files to popular Web services, transforming those documents into searchable PDF documents on the fly.

The RICOH MP C401 and RICOH MP C401SR support today's mobile workforce with the RICOH Smart Device Print&Scan app, which enables smartphones and tablets (iOS and Android) to seamlessly operate with multifunction products and printers through the cloud. Optional Ricoh HotSpot printing similarly enables smartphone and tablet users to print via email, mobile app or the Web.

Exemplifying Ricoh's sustainability commitment, a number of features in the RICOH MP C401 and RICOH MP C401SR are designed to save energy and reduce environmental impact, including standard duplexing, customizable print quotas, and an eco-friendly indicator to prominently display paper usage. These models can be programmed to power up in the morning and power down at night, or according to any schedule a customer prefers.

Addressing security and compliance concerns, the new MFPs offer password-protected, user-specific authentication; address book and stored document encryption; and a DataOverwriteSecurity System (DOSS) that destroys latent images and stored data. A new Mandatory Security Information Printing feature can apply name, time and login of the authorized user on output.

The manufacturer's suggested retail price for the RICOH MP C401 is $5,880 and $6,405 for the RICOH MP C401SR. Both are priced low at the level of predecessor 32 ppm models. The RICOH MP C401SR comes standard with a 250-sheet internal finisher for stapling up to 50-page print jobs.
