Ricoh to highlight the opportunities of the digital age at Interquest 2014 Digital Printing Forum

Ricoh Europe is discussing the challenges and opportunities inherent in digital transformation within the print industry at the Interquest 2014 Digital Printing Forum. As the Platinum Sponsor of the event on 18 March at Le Plaza Hotel, Brussels, Ricoh and a selection of its clients from across Europe will be on hand to talk to visitors about how to manage effectively the trends, technologies and opportunities in digital printing and multi-channel communications.

During the morning session in the main hall, Federico Tornielli, Sales Director and board member for Poligrafico Roggero & Tortia (PRT), Italy – a Ricoh client – will present The Best of Transactional Applications.

PRT is a specialist in managing direct mail operations and integrating with its clients' resources using Ricoh technology, including the high volume IP5000 inkjet press system. Tornielli will share how PRT harnesses this and other capabilities to deliver its Hybrid Mail correspondence management outsourcing service. Through two versatile solutions called Ready and Post Office Hybrid Mail, both enabled by Ricoh technology, clients send digital documents for PRT to print, envelope and dispatch.

The afternoon session will focus on Digital Printing in Publishing and will feature a presentation in the main hall from Willem Overbosch, Owner, MKB Servicedesk / De Zaak, Netherlands. Overbosch will discuss how his organisation has been using Ricoh's Clickable Paper as part of the European pilot of the technology; to help monitor responses to print advertising, and give readers access to rich media content online by making the printed content interactive. Overbosch will demonstrate how a free mobile app can be used to scan Clickable Paper-enabled 'hotspots' using a smart phone or tablet, offering readers up to six different links from each hotspot. These links add a fresh dimension to the story or advertisement on the printed page, including video interviews, relevant social media sites and the De Zaak website. Pages that are clicked can be tracked by publishers and advertisers, giving them unique insights into readers' responses to individual articles and adverts.

Graham Moore, Director, Business Development, Ricoh Europe says: "For businesses of any size or status, pursuing digital transformation is often a daunting task. A survey recently commissioned by Ricoh Europe found that 63 per cent of European businesses are far from ready for digital transformation, which highlights the scale of financial, operational and reputational benefits which companies are missing out on. Ricoh has developed a number of technologies to help print companies transform to provide a range of digital and interactive services that enable their clients to achieve a greater level of end user engagement. This forum is the perfect venue to discuss these technologies and for Ricoh to demonstrate its ability to help print companies transform in the direction and pace which is right for them."
