Hymmen Shows Industrial Inkjet in Real Production

Hymmen exhibits at InPrint not only samples of finished products which have been made by the Hymmen JUPITER Industrial Digital Printing Lines. Also films of whole production lines at the customer's sites can be seen.

"It would take half of the show's presentation area if we wanted to exhibit one of the more than 30 Industrial Digital Printing Lines that we have already sold", explains Dr. René Pankoke, CEO and president, the context of Hymmen's exhibition concept. "It is much better to show films of lines in their real production surroundings, in order to provide proof of their industrial capabilities." On the booth you can watch films of different Hymmen Industrial Digital Printing Lines, of which there are 7 models altogether. All Lines print single pass with a feed speed of up to 50 m/min and with an optical resolution of more than 1.000 dpi. The standard color system comprises CMYK plus white. But there are also extra colors in use.

Besides these shared features, the lines differ concerning the printing width (230 up to 2,100 mm) and concerning the materials to be imprinted: Either board or roll to roll material like paper, foils, plastics, veneer, wood based panels, glass, sandwich elements or fiber cement. The products which arise from this are for example laminate (CPL/HPL), laminate flooring, baseboards, doors/gates, furniture or kitchen fronts, facade elements, edge banding material (ABS, PVC, PP), decorative paper and finish foils. Moreover, the development in the area of packing solutions is going on very fast.

As it is not possible to build up a whole production line at the InPrint, Hymmen at least wanted to show the core part of the Digital Printing Line JPT-C 2.100. With the row of print heads presented in a showcase Hymmen won the Great Innovations Award of the last InPrint. In the showcase you can also see one big flooring panel by Classen that was digitally printed in a JPT-C 2.100. You can watch it "on duty" at the Classen production site in one of the films on display.

Furthermore, other end product samples show what the Hymmen technology can achieve. The biggest sample is the high end laminate flooring by Classen, which covers the whole flooring of the Hymmen booth and of the cafeteria of the fair. It was digitally printed directly on the board and then was embossed in register – everything with Hymmen technology. Besides that, also other digitally printed surfaces with and without embossed in register persuade the customers of Hymmen's capabilities.

One of the smaller samples and one of Hymmen's latest innovations has already been drawing significant attention recently. By combining the industrial inkjet with the Double Belt Technology, Hymmen succeeded in producing extra thin laminate (less than 0.1 mm thick) (picture 3). Until then, only laminate with the thickness of 0.15 – 0.2 mm was state of the art. Besides the saving of material, the extra thin laminate is especially interesting for the fixing of laminate around edges with smallest radii.

Since 2008, Hymmen is active in the area of industrial inkjet. With more than 30 lines sold Hymmen is one of the market leaders. Specialised on machines and lines for the production and finishing of flat materials, Hymmen has a grand expertise concerning the production processes. The expertise comprises the area of industrial inkjet, the pressing technology (Double Belt Presses, Short Cycle Presses and Multi Opening Presses) and liquid coating lines and laminating lines.

This all-embracing know-how enables Hymmen to offer more than stand-alone solutions, which is of advantage when integrating the innovative industrial inkjet technology into the whole production process of the customers.

Hymmen only use UV-curing inks in their Digital Printing Lines. These proved to work very well in industrial context and make sure that the lines work safe and reliably in three-shift operation. On Hymmen technology UV inks can be used in conventional processes, i.e. in combination with the lacquering technology, as well as with the pressing of melamine in the following production step. This is why Hymmen will go on with their strategy to use exceptional UV inks.
