BERICAP Closures with Side Laser Printing Application for Shell World

Product piracy and product forgery are very real and considerable problems for chemical articles in the automotive field as well. BERICAP has developed a number of tools to protect against manipulation.

ALJOMAIH AND SHELL LUBRICATING OIL COMPANY LIMITED blends, markets and sells Shell lubricants within the territory of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The company has a state-of-the-art lube oil blending plant situated in Riyadh which has the capability to produce the world-class Shell lubricants. In addition to blending lubricants locally, the company also imports specialty lubricants from Shell plants worldwide.
As the counterfeiting of high-quality mineral oil is an ever present risk, JV Aljomaih/Shell in Saudi Arabia previously used a neck sleeve as an anti- counterfeiting measure.
By its very nature a sleeve makes it harder for the consumer to open the container, nor is it expensive to imitate. To improve the packaging, a decision was made to look for alternatives and a project with BERICAP was begun to find a modern closure and state-of-the-art anti-counterfeiting measure.
Not only did BERICAP develop a 42mm closure meeting the design requirements of Shell, it also offered a newly developed side laser printing application that imposes the Shell logo on the side of the closure.
The laser mark is printed across the tamper band. The tamper band breaks on first opening and practically cuts the logo – a visible sign for the consumer that the bottle has been opened.
Over the last couple of years BERICAP has developed various closure systems that help to protect its customers' high-value products from product piracy.
