VDMA: Morocco is the fifth largest importer of packaging & printing and paper technology in Africa

Since many years the entire Moroccan and international plastics business community meets at plast expo, Morocco's international plastics, rubber and composites trade fair.

New: from 2015 onwards, plast expo will be completed by plast pack, the 1st International Trade Fair for Packaging and Printing Machinery and Material.

Mark your calendar for plast expo & plast pack from 3 to 6 June 2015 at the Casablanca International Fairgrounds – OFEC in Morocco.

The event is organised by the Moroccan Plastics Association FMP in cooperation with Forum 7 and fairtrade. The organisers expect more than 150 exhibitors and 2,800 visitors to participate.

According to VDMA-the German Engineering Association, Morocco has imported packaging technology at a volume of 96.0 million US$ in 2013, after 93.2 million in 2012. This makes Morocco the fifth largest importer of packaging technology in Africa, just behind Algeria, South Africa, Egypt and Nigeria.

In the fields of printing and paper technology Morocco's imports amounted to 57.8 million US $, after 74.9 million US $ in 2012 and 69.8 million in 2011.

This makes Morocco the fifth-largest importer of printing and paper technology on the African continent, behind South Africa (199.9 million US $; -35.6%), Egypt (154.1 million US $; -2.6%), Algeria (111.5 million US$; +16.6%) and Nigeria (104.2 million US $; +32.2%).

According to Ms Mounia Boucetta, secretary general with the Moroccan ministry of industry, trade and new technologies, 38% of the turnover of the Moroccan plastics industry of 818 million Euro is generated with packaging material. Especially flexible plastic packaging becomes increasingly important and Morocco's imports of packaging machinery and materials stand at a constant high level.

The development of the Moroccan market. According to VDMA-the German Engineering Association, Morocco is the fifth largest importer of packaging & printing and paper technology in Africa. Due to the Moroccan ministry of industry, trade and new technologies, 38% of turnover of the Moroccan plastics industry is generated with packaging material, 14% with agriculture, 14% with the building industry and 10% with technical equipment.

Excellent visitor base. A total of 2,855 professional visitors from 31 countries had been registered at plast expo 2013 with an impressive share of 80% decision makers.

Top quality exhibitors. 150 exhibitors from 19 countries at plast expo 2013, +9.5% compared to 2011.

The plast print pack industry portal. More than 7,600 visitors are registered in the plast print pack industry portal. The portal allows exhibitors and visitors to connect before, during and after the event.

High satisfaction rate. 88% of the exhibitors of plast expo 2013 would recommend the event.
