61 innovations nominated for the German Packaging Award 2014

Under the patronage of the Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy, the jury of the German Packaging Award has nominated 61 outstanding innovations from home and abroad for the German Packaging Award 2014.

230 innovative packaging solutions from 10 countries – these were the participants in the German Packaging Award 2014. In a two-day session, the panel awarded 61 outstanding solutions as praiseworthy. Among the nominees are 5 packaging machines, 9 displays and promotional packaging solutions, 2 labels and seals, 8 transport and logistics packaging solutions, 32 sales packaging including beverages and food, pharmaceuticals and cosmetics up to industrial products as well as five innovative concepts from the Young Talent sector. All nominees will be presented on the website of the German Packaging Award including images and text.

For Burkhard Lingenberg, a board member of the German Packaging Institute (dvi) and overall responsible for the German Packaging Award, "this year's package price proves once again how creative, innovative and successful industry players working on the permanent optimization of packaging really are. There are a number of smart features and innovative use of materials in addition to completely new systems, designs and construction methods. The very high quality of participants did not make it easy on the jury to select this exclusive circle of nominees. The large and seemingly small advantages can be found in many different areas of sustainability and resource conservation covering design, customer experience, functionality benefit, residual emptying and product protection as well as ergonomics, handling and secondary use. Also, the variety is enormous in the materials used."

The nominated packaging innovations in 2014 come from Germany, Austria, Switzerland, USA, UK and the Netherlands.

The winners are selected by a point system from among the nominees. The German Packaging are awarded during a ceremony held on 11th November, the first day of the fair BrauBeviale trade fair in Nuremberg. The dvi invites participants and fans to this "very special packaging industry meeting". Any more information on the awards and the nominated innovations can be found on the website of the German Packaging Award.
