Partnership with David C. Steinberg Expands New NSF Cosmetics and Personal Care Program

Steinberg brings more than 40 years of experience in the cosmetics and over-the-counter product industries to new NSF program

Following the launch of its Cosmetics and Personal Care Program, global public health organization NSF International has partnered with David C. Steinberg to further expand regulatory compliance and consulting services for the cosmetics and personal care industries. David C. Steinberg is a widely respected cosmetic industry veteran with more than 40 years of experience in the cosmetics and over-the-counter (OTC) industries.

The recently launched NSF Cosmetics and Personal Care Program provides auditing, product testing and certification, training and regulatory compliance services developed by NSF to enable manufacturers to improve the quality and safety of their products and retailers to strengthen the oversight of their cosmetic and personal care suppliers.

David is Principal and Founder of Steinberg & Associates, a firm that specializes in cosmetic regulations, preservation and sunscreens.  He helped develop some of the industry's most valuable education and association programs, including the cosmetic sciences master's program at Fairleigh Dickinson University and the Cosmetic Preservative Council, where he currently serves as Executive Director.

With the addition of David Steinberg's expertise, the NSF Cosmetics and Personal Care Program also offers expert guidance on:

Best sources and uses of preservatives

Proper labeling of products worldwide

Manufacturing compliance for exporting products to other countries

Developing Product Information Files (PIF dossiers) for the European Union

Properly resolving regulatory noncompliances and warning letters

"NSF International's scientific and technical expertise coupled with David Steinberg's extensive industry knowledge is a powerful combination for companies seeking a superior approach to regulatory compliance, risk management and brand protection," said Casey Coy, Manager of the NSF Cosmetics and Personal Care Program.

Steinberg is the former president of the Society of Cosmetic Chemists and was on the Presidium of the International Federation of Societies of Cosmetic Chemists. In 2009, he was named a Regulatory Affairs Professional Society (RAPS) Fellow, the first person specializing in cosmetics and topical drugs to be awarded this honor. He also authored five books including Preservatives for Cosmetics and the Guide to the European Cosmetic Regulations.

"Joining forces enables both our organizations to further our role in helping ensure the safety, quality and regulatory compliance of cosmetic and personal care manufacturing facilities, ingredients and products," said Steinberg, Principal and Founder of Steinberg & Associates
