At the EuroShop 2014, the world's biggest retail trade fair, Hoeft & Wessel exhibits its portfolio of data capture solutions. The technology enterprise headquartered in Hannover, with a subsidiary in Swindon (United Kingdom) develops hardware and software solutions for data capture and processing with a major focus on mobility.
In the fields of trade, logistics and public transport, Hoeft & Wessel ensures optimised transportation of passengers, goods and services.
At the EuroShop trade fair, for the first time ever a completely newly developed terminal is exhibited that facilitates not only data but also voice communication. The particularly secure and very robust system with the product name almex.cargo increases the level of safety of employees working in logistics and boost efficiency. Functionalities include data communication, telephone function featuring group calls, remote control and order book, SMS handling, emergency calls. The device is also capable of being used with gloves and in a rugged environment and can be reliably deployed in external areas. By wearing a special vest, employees equipped with this system can continue working with both hands free.
Moreover, at the EuroShop Hoeft & Wessel exhibits an upgrade of its industry PDA for data capture within the scope of merchandise flow management of the skeye.dart series. The performance data of the device were improved and now include UMTS, an enhanced WLAN function and the use of an NAND flash function. Thanks to lower input voltage, it was possible to extend the operating time of the device even further.
The company plans to increasingly follow the general trend in the direction of mobile payments which, in the opinion of Hoeft & Wessel AG, will replace the use of cash in the long term. In addition, the manufacturer believes that consumer smartphones and tablets will continue to penetrate the traditional B2B markets. The company also reacts to this trend: "Generally speaking, a paradigm shift is expected towards ever more complex back-end systems. The trick here will also be to create and implement the efficient data capture interfaces for these back-end systems," explains Rudolf Spiller, CEO of Hoeft & Wessel AG.
