Syndiant introduces a Wearable Near-Eye Optical Engine Based on Liquid Crystal (LCOS) Micro-display Technology

Syndiant has teamed up with Quanta to create near-eye display modules that deliver high performance, in a small form factor, requiring low power, and at very low cost.

Syndiant, a leader in high resolution micro displays, has teamed up with Quanta Computer Inc. to develop complete projection light engines that enable accelerated development of new products for the emerging wearable computing market.

Syndiant introduces an ultra-small, monocular see-through style, near-eye engine from Quanta Computer Inc. that has a Field of View (FOV) of 22.2 degree with 46" image at 3 meters, 16:9 aspect ratio, 500:1 contrast ratio, 345 nits brightness at 150mW, and dimensions 34 by 12 by 12 mm. This solution, based on Syndiant's SYL2271 HD LCOS panel, provides the user a combination of a truly see-through experience with an outstanding 720p HD picture resolution.

"Syndiant is excited to work with Quanta Computer Inc. to lead the development of emerging wearable near-eye display market by providing innovative high performance optical engines. With the availability of these solutions, leading consumer electronics companies can develop compelling products and accelerate time to market." said Daniel Wong, CEO and President of Syndiant.

"Quanta has selected Syndiant's SYL2271 panel based on the 720p resolution and high quality image. We look forward to strengthening the strategic relationship with Syndiant and playing a key role in the development of the wearable display market." said Jammy Huang, Associate Vice President of Quanta.
