Blending Personal Technology, Personal Healthcare Explored at FMS Wearables/Mobile Day Session August 12

Panel Session Explores Putting Personal Back in Personal Healthcare with Wearable Technology, Health Monitoring and the Security, Privacy Price Tag/Challenges

Industry experts will discuss the dramatic growth of personal technology, the struggling disconnect with personal healthcare and the issues that must be overcome during a Wearables/Mobile Day session at 3:25 p.m. on August 12 at FMS (Flash Memory Summit) 2015 at the Santa Clara Convention Center.

In describing the topics that will be discussed during the panel session, Tim Bajarin, president of Creative Strategies and session moderator, noted, "Health monitoring tops the consumer's wishlist for wearable and mobile technology. People are interested in having that information instantly available to them and their healthcare provider; but they also want to ensure it is secure and kept private--regardless of where it resides."

Research shows that two out of three Americans have a smartphone, 86 percent of the population is connected online and 70 percent of internet users look up health information information online. Still, only one in five individuals have a health tracking app on their smartphone and only 2.8 percent of the Apple App Store apps downloaded have been health oriented. Bajarin and his panelists will explore solutions beyond the smartphone, beyond the watch and what is required for device and solution providers to meet the consumers' needs.

Joining Bajarin to discuss the applications, issues and opportunities for businesses and service providers will be:
- Stephane Maes, Vice President Product Management, Motorola Mobility
- Rick Valencia, Senior Vice President/GM, Qualcomm Life
- Mat Johnson, CEO, GeaCom
- Ben Bajarin, Principal Analyst, Creative Strategies

With more and more people engaging with their healthcare provider online, mobile and wearable solutions (hardware/software/services) need to seamlessly and safely monitor, report and assist individuals and providers in a manner that is absolutely reliable and secure. While mobile/wearable technology has permeated everything from our social lives, how we work and how we shop; it is only starting to touch how we manage health.
