SBTi Approves Epson's GHG Reduction Targets

Seiko Epson Corporation (TSE: 6724, "Epson") today announced that the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi)*1 has approved Epson's global greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction targets. SBTi recognized Epson's targets as being science-based and in line with keeping a global temperature rise this century to well below 2 degrees Celsius, a central aim of the Paris Agreement.

Stora Enso Signs Agreement to Acquire Forest Assets in Bergvik Skog

The shareholders of Bergvik Skog AB, a Swedish forest holding company, have signed a binding agreement regarding the previously announced intent to restructure its ownership. With this agreement, the parties aim to complete the transaction during the first half of 2019. Stora Enso's forest holdings in Sweden will increase to 1.4 million hectares, of which 1.15 million hectares is productive forest land. The total value of the transaction in Stora Enso's balance sheet is estimated to be approximately EUR 1.0 billion.

UPM strengthens the foundations of the bioeconomy with a new biodiversity commitment

UPM has today published a new biodiversity commitment, which is one of the company's responsibility targets for 2030. The new commitment and programme will be presented today at the Conference of the Parties (COP14) of the United Nations' Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), held in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt.

Constantia Flexibles commits to fight pollution

The world’s fourth-largest producer of flexible packaging, Constantia Flexibles, signed the Global Commitment to eliminate plastic pollution. The New Plastics Economy Global Commitment is led by the Ellen MacArthur Foundation in collaboration with UN Environment. It was officially unveiled at the foundation’s Ocean Conference held on October 29 in Bali and signed by 250 organizations.

Metsä Wood - Open Source Wood Winner: ClipHut Structural Building System

ClipHut is a parametrically generated structural construction system that can be adapted to regional building regulations. The system was designed by an interdisciplinary team at Ostwestfalen-Lippe University of Applied Sciences in Germany. The ClipHut team's vision was to develop new solutions in construction to make building more accessible and affordable.
