Axel Springer announces a design contest for a new Media Campus in the center of Berlin. Mathias Döpfner, Chief Executive Officer of Axel Springer AG, presented his vision of the building project on Monday, 27th May 2013 to representatives of approximately twenty architect's offices in the Axel Springer Building in Berlin and informed them about the further steps for tendering. Established international architectural firms, as well as avant-garde architects have been invited to the event. The Axel Springer Campus will be built on the "Lindenpark" plot in the immediate vicinity of headquarters of Axel Springer AG and will offer space in particular for the company's digital daughter companies.

The World Association of Newspapers and News Publishers (WAN-IFRA) and the World Editors Forum have protested to United States Attorney General Eric Holder against the seizure of thousands of Associated Press phone records, saying the action damages US news reporting and provides encouragement to repressive regimes around the world.
