Toeay joins festivities for Japanese National Day

At IMPRIMA, as part of the Toray group, we were extremely proud to represent our company at the Japanese National Day at the Hilton Hotel in Prague, along with seven large Japanese companies that have representation in the Czech Republic. The event took place at the Hilton Hotel in Prague on 5th of December.

Japanese Ambassador to the Czech Republic Shimazaki held a reception on December 5th, the National Day of Japan, which traditionally takes place on the occasion of the birthday celebrations for His Majesty the Emperor (December 23rd). This event was attended by 410 guests, including representatives of the Government of the Czech Republic, important personalities from the Parliament of the Czech Republic and representatives of the Ministries, as well as representatives of economic and social institutions, cultural personalities, and ambassadors of other countries and representatives of Japanese enterprises operating in the Czech Republic.
After the opening speech by the Ambassador of Japan, Jaroslav Kubera, the President of the Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic, spoke.
At this year's reception, guests were acquainted with the long-standing Czech-Japanese cooperation, and with Japanese technologies, culture and food.
During this celebration, Toray focused on “tennis” in its presentation, since the company actively supported this sport during 2018. On display was a Yonex tennis racket made of Toray carbon fiber material, used by Naomi Osaka, a professional tennis player who represents Japan. Also on display was the tennis dress Uniqlo made from Toray fiber, used by Kei Nishikori, another Japanese professional tennis player.
You might wonder: What is the connection between Toray and the world of tennis?
As a company, Toray is keen on investing in research and innovation and continuously strives to improve as part of our DNA. We do not believe that competition is our enemy; it has helped us to grow, stay ahead of innovation, and to perform better every day. Today, we still have our roots and headquarters in Japan, but we are globally active in 27 countries, and count 250 subsidiaries and partner companies throughout Europe, Asia, and North and South America. Facing competition has never been an obstacle; instead, it has always helped us stay at the top of our game. The same competitive spirit holds true with tennis professionals, which is why Toray was proud to sponsor the tennis Fed Cup by BNP Paribas Final held in Prague’s O2 Arena in November of 2018.
