Making Print More Competitive

Waterless Printing Takes Center Stage with Toray at WAN-IFRA World Publishing Expo 2015

Toray Industries Inc., a leading manufacturer of waterless offset plate technology, will again be exhibiting at the upcoming WAN-IFRA World Publishing Expo 2015, scheduled for 5-7 October at the Hamburg Messe. The expo is expected to draw broad global attendance and is designed as a venue for attendees to discover innovative ideas and solutions for mobile, web and print publishing in one place, at one event. Toray will be located in Stand 4.130 at the Expo.

"Waterless printing continues to be the preferred printing methodology for publishers who are concerned about cost, quality and the environment," said Mitsunori Hayashi, General Manager of Sales and Marketing for the Toray Graphics factory in the Czech Republic of Toray. "Ecological printing is no longer seen as an expensive luxury, but as a profitable business. At WAN-IFRA, we will be showcasing Toray waterless printing technology with many examples that show the quality that can be achieved and how that enhances the overall value of print in an omni channel world."

Experts on hand

Toray experts will be on hand at the Toray Booth during the event to talk about the benefits of waterless printing and to share customer success stories with visitors. "We have many great examples," Hayashi added, "and we are happy to share details about the difference waterless printing has made for these companies. We are also looking forward to hearing from visitors about the challenges they are facing in order to learn more about how we can help them address those challenges. We are looking forward to a very interesting and interactive exchange of ideas."

Waterless Benefits

In addition to improved quality and reduction in water consumption, waterless printing also reduces waste and eliminates the need for toxic chemicals in the printing process. "Reduction of water consumption can be significant," explains Hayashi. "A Swiss waterless printer tells us that he has eliminated the use of approximately 250,000 litres of water annually, water that would have come from a key local source of drinking water. In light of the drought situation in many parts of the world, this is a significant benefit of waterless printing, for the printer, the publisher and the world. The elimination of toxic chemicals also reduces the possibility of contamination of precious water supplies and creates a safer working environment for employees."

By switching to waterless printing technology, printers can save time and money as well as water and trees. Less water consumption, less makeready waste, no toxic chemicals, higher quality-it all adds up to a smaller environmental footprint and a cost savings for both printers and their customers.
