Leading Kenyan newspaper printer invests in a new automated press for increased efficiency

The biggest Kenyan newspaper printer, Nation Media Group, has decided to invest in a new COLORMAN 4-1 e:line from manroland web systems. The printing industry in Kenya is changing rapidly and only those who will evolve and continually invest in upgrading technology will survive and grow in the future. Thus, after several discussions, the company has finally chosen the latest technology from manroland web systems.

New KBA Rapida 105 for a new production hall

In mid-February, a new Rapida 105 went into production at Granpak in Andrychów in the south of Poland. The six-colour press with inline coater, extended delivery and a full range of measurement and control systems is part of a comprehensive programme of investments which also includes a new production hall in the special economic zone Andrychów. In this way, Granpak plans to continue its dynamic growth on the market for high-quality packaging.

Leading manufacturer of labels, tickets and tags, Labelnet, have just purchased an eight colour, full UV, Edale FL-3 label and flexible packaging press with an array of additional options.

UK based Labelnet have been producing labels since 1999, supplying to a wide range of industries for a variety of applications. They began their search for a new machine primarily to improve efficiencies and Edale's FL-3 was the perfect match, boasting a wide range of features to ensure maximum productivity, minimum downtime as well as a rapid return on investment.

All eyes on the manroland web systems FoldLine: the folding system for digital newspaper production was in the spotlight of the latest Technology Forum on February 27, 2014 at Rotolito Lombarda, the Italian "Leader in Printing". More than 40 visitors out of several countries joined the event.

Advance Publications will install a new Goss Magnum Compact press this fall in Staten Island, New York – a move that will add versatile, short-run capability in combination with output capacity approaching that of its existing double-width system.

Heidelberg has announced the immediate North American market availability of its groundbreaking XL 75 Anicolor digital offset press. At a crossover of just 250 sheets to digital presses (like the HP 10000), Anicolor leads in cost efficiency for digital market run lengths in the 29" format for commercial, label, package printing and POP applications.

Anicolor technology is a revolutionary inking unit that achieves sellable quality in as little as 10 sheets, with total makeready times around six minutes per form. Bursting with performance-driving capabilities, the fully customizable XL 75 Anicolor is available in four- to 10-color straight and perfecting configurations, with full format flexibility up to 23 x 29", stock flexibility up to 32 pt., as well as inline and double coating.

It is an investment that sets a big signal for the Swiss market: Founded in 1896, prominent quality print shop Atar Roto Presse based in Satigny, near Geneva, banks on technology from KBA for the future.

A ten-colour Rapida 106-5+T+5 perfector and a five-colour Rapida 106-2+T-3+L perfector with coater, making a grand total of 18 units, will be installed in summer 2014. Both presses are equipped with energy-saving HR UV.

Danish label printer Scanket A/S recently installed their second MPS UV flexo press to accommodate production growth of self-adhesive labels in their Birkerod, Denmark facility.

MPS today announced an increased presence in Denmark with the successful installation of a Scanket's second MPS UV flexo press. Nearly one year since the installation of their first MPS press, Scanket purchased a second EF UV flexo multi-substrate MPS press to accommodate an increased production demand of self-adhesive labels. This press marks the fifth MPS press installed in Denmark over the last 12 months.

The Argentine packaging and print company Cartocor, with headquarters near Buenos Aires, is a member of the Arcor Group, one of the biggest manufacturers of chocolates, biscuits and other food products, with almost 40 production facilities in Latin America and sales offices all over the world. In 2013, Cartocor invested in its first ever sheetfed offset printing press, and the decision fell in favour of a six-colour coater version of the large-format KBA Rapida 142.

Besides its offset printing facility, Cartocor operates a paper factory and four corrugated board plants – three in Argentina and one in Chile.

This two-day event at Gallus Ferd. Rüesch AG in St.Gallen was all about finishing high-end wine labels. During live demonstrations, numerous potential customers were able to see for themselves the many different performance features of the Gallus TCS 250 label press in combination with inline flat bed hot foil embossing on a Pantec RHINOTM.

The wine label being printed in the live demonstration impressed with its special haptic properties and a sophisticated design incorporating spot colours and gold embossing.

People´s Daily, China's most influential newspaper, will be equipped with another UNISET from manroland web systems

Just after celebrating the Chinese New Year of the horse, there was another reason for celebration: People´s Daily, China's most influential newspaper, opted for another UNISET from manroland web systems. The newspaper press, which will be installed at the end of this year at People's Daily's new printing center, is covered by the sixth contract between manroland web systems and the important Chinese newspaper printer.
