Ricoh unveils new secured interactive whiteboard capable of hosting online collaboration for more than 168 users

RICOH Interactive Whiteboard D5510 links up to as many as eight peer whiteboards, each hosting up to 20 remote participants

Ricoh today continued pushing the boundaries of information mobility with a new big-screen interactive whiteboard enabling collaboration with more than 160 onsite and remote participants at once.

The new RICOH Interactive Whiteboard D5510 – being demoed at InfoComm 2015 now through June 19 in Orlando, Florida, at Ricoh's Booth #4043 – is ideal for a wide range of presentation and collaboration activities, including all-inclusive corporate strategy sessions, architectural reviews, education, interactive training sessions, legal team case development and much more.

Presenters can create drawings, review designs, edit documents and share meeting notes on a 55-inch-diagonal HD screen, incorporating interactive content from their PCs or thumb drives. The RICOH D5510's streamlined tablet-like design enables even first-time users to easily write, draw, edit, move, resize and save content via intuitive touch-screen controls. No software downloads, calibration or training is required.

Presenters can invite up to 168 participants to view images and information via a virtual private network connecting up to eight RICOH D5510s. Annotations made on one RICOH D5510 appear instantaneously on the other seven and throughout the audience connected to them.

"In this new world of work, presenters need to share their best ideas instantly, broadly and securely in whatever way best enlightens the audience," said Matt Sakauchi, Vice President, Visual Communications Group, Ricoh Americas Corporation. "With the new RICOH Interactive Whiteboard D5510, workers can collaborate and interact using multiple whiteboards connected over a virtual private network, or via their PCs and mobile devices. There are virtually no more boundaries to collaboration, except the ones you want to enforce, and the D5510's unparalleled security makes that easy."

Security is paramount

Participants log into RICOH D5510 whiteboard sessions via password, and all data is erased from the whiteboard after the presentation is closed, helping protect the user's most critical business information. Other interactive whiteboards are essentially full-blown computers, not only making them complex to use but vulnerable to viruses and intruders. The RICOH D5510 is a simple-to-operate firmware-based system that is more resistant to intrusion.

The RICOH D5510 improves on its predecessor, the RICOH Interactive Whiteboard D5500, with new HDMI inputs for true HD video playback and audio ports for speakers. New intelligent character recognition (ICR) capability now captures words on the screen as searchable text in password-protected PDF documents. The new interface includes intuitive nested commands arranged according to common workflows as well as a new set of auto shapes, including lines, arrows and stamps.

The smooth-writing, natural-feeling electronic pen is included with the RICOH D5510 and features a soft-touch nib and erase function in the base, enabling fine lines that are critical for marking up engineering and other detailed documents. Users can easily print, save or email the content from the screen. The whiteboard's 1920 x 1080 dpi resolution provides optimal clarity for detail created by the pen or presented in drawings or schematics.

Connect to other Ricoh devices for an enhanced experience

Users can extend the power of the RICOH D5510 by creating remote interactive whiteboards on their walls using the RICOH PJ WX4141NI business projection system and a PC connection. The RICOH D5510 can also be used as a high-quality display for Ricoh's Unified Communication System – the RICOH P3500 or other videoconferencing systems while sharing information via the RICOH D5510's picture-in-picture function.

The RICOH Interactive Whiteboard D5510 is available now at a suggested retail price of $7,140 for the whiteboard, $1,126 for the optional stand and $1,200 for a collaboration license.

More interactive whiteboards on the way

InfoComm 2015 attendees will also get a first look at a slightly larger whiteboard system, the RICOH Interactive Whiteboard D6500, set to launch this fall. Customizable for business or education, the RICOH D6500 will feature a 65-inch HD display with enhanced touch capabilities.
