CTC 3D Printer Climbs to the No. 2 Spot on 3D Hubs' List of Desktop Printers

Leading global platform provider 3D Hubs has just released its January 2015 report for 3D printers. Considered to be an authority on the topic by the industry, the report has ranked the Zhuhai-made CTC 3D printer as No. 2 for the month and the product is seen as a black horse in the sector.

To date, more than 350 3D printers have been registered with 3D Hubs. The report was done based on the survey results completed by over 10,000 users from more than 160 countries and regions worldwide. The surveyed users were asked to vote on the 3D printing quality of the model when the highest precisions settings are selected. The 3D Hubs' trend report serves as a weathervane for the entire sector as well as a stage for manufacturers to showcase their 3D printer brands.

The No. 2 positioned Zhuhai CTC 3D printer is based on an open source prototype, MakerBot Replicator, and fits the description of a product that provides a lot of value for the money at its price of USD 700 (RMB 5299 for buyers in China). The cost-value ratio explains why the printer, which is designed, developed and manufactured in China, is enjoying wide popularity across the globe.

The manufacturer, Zhuhai CTC Electronic Co., Ltd., is delighted with its ranking nearing the top of the list, which acts as a testament to its recognition on global markets. "Rome was not built in a day". CTC Electronic was the first among Chinese manufacturers to make the leap into the world of 3D printing technologies in 2010, when it initiated the research and development of desktop 3D printing technologies and products, and then succeeded in establishing the world's largest desktop 3D printer manufacturing facility in April, 2014. The facility currently has the most advanced manufacturing environment for light-curing equipment.

CTC Electronic president Yang Yusheng said, "I think the reason why 3D printers made by CTC Electronic can have a place in the market is that, as early as 2009, we had put together an international technical team, where our members had already achieved much in the field of 3D core technologies. Besides, the firm's accumulation of marketing channels for 2D printing supplies over the years constituted an advantage for the promotion of its 3D products over other manufacturers."

CTC Electronic, in its role as the representative of China's 3D printing technologies, originally established its dominant position when it took lead of the development of the technology behind the highly popular desktop FDM 3D printers. China's 3D printing technology is going through a period of maturation while mainstream application markets are being explored and developed. Mr. Yang said that he foresees CTC Electronic to be taking up over 30% of the market share in China and more than 10% of the market share around the globe moving forward.

The product lines are expected to continue to diversify on many levels, providing consumers with products applicable to 3D printing in such fields as industrial manufacturing, cultural creative, digital entertainment, aeronautics and astronautics, national defense, biomedicals, consumer goods, construction engineering and personalization. If someone would like have a taste of a 3D-printed chocolate, they could buy a CTC 3D printer and produce it themselves. The company has already developed a 3D printer which can print chocolates, which is good news for foodies.
