Selling smarter: Affordable 3D app is a powerful sales tool

As sales forces move to the convenience of mobile devices for product demos and cataloging, Detroit-area's Onu uses patent-pending technology to create an easy-to use, subscription-based catalog app that harnesses engagement with the power of 3D.

"We've developed a technology to use clients' available engineering and CAD renderings to easily create 3D product views for a powerful mobile catalog called Onu One," said Sam Sesti, Onu's president. "3D views give sales forces an opportunity for a deeper level of customer engagement by putting to work the CAD and 3D assets they already have."

"It's time to give those old PowerPoint slides a rest," says Sesti. "Onu One is powerful out in the field and when presenting at trade shows." There's also an add-on that lets users invite prospective customers to download the app and browse a tailored 3D product catalog. The analytics engine allows for detailed reporting, including comprehensive lead tracking and qualifying.

The app also allows for real-time updates and clickable resources such as video, PDFs and image files. Onu One integrates with top CRM systems including Sales Force, Zoho, SugarCRM and others. "There's no need for IT intervention or heavy financial investment, and your files are safe," Sesti says. Using the Onu One portal is similar to uploading files to a WordPress or Facebook. "Clients' modeling data is safe since our conversion process modifies the files to a format unusable outside the app," said Sesti.

Next week, Sesti is taking the app on the road to the MD&M West conference in Anaheim to demonstrate its potential to the medical manufacturing and sales community there. "We're eager to be among industry professionals who will get it right out of the gate. Medical device and instrument sales reps are faced with a unique set of challenges such as bringing bulky, delicate or very expensive items on sales calls – it's a market that would benefit from the features of Onu One," says Sesti. "Companies can showcase their products while still in preproduction, which is key since there's often time tied up meeting government approvals and quality standards." In addition to medical sales, the company sees sales forces in automotive aftermarket, sporting goods, small household appliances and audio/visual as key sectors that will benefit from the technology.
