The contest was sponsored by companies and organizations that put emphasis on printing and good industrial practice, these include: Contest Sponsors : Sun Chemical, e-Tech Simulation, Printing Industries of America Co-Sponsors : Agudi, Abigraf, ABTG
The two finalists, the Peruvian printer Gráfica Biblos and the Brazilian school SENAI Theobaldo de Nigris have reached the final round after a 4-month competition, in which teams from Latin American countries competed to solve problems on the Sinapse Sheetfed Press Simulator.
The Gráfica Biblos team from Peru, Although new to print simulators, the team clearly understood how to solve print problems.
This shows that good knowledge of printing and good performance on the simulator are closely linked.
There was a wide variety of teams (20+ from 5 countries) in the contest. Many were from educational centers, and some had prior experience with simulators. The Peruvians had NO prior experience, but the learning period, the practice sessions, and their own good printing habits combined to qualify them for the finals.
The Brazilian team from the SENAI Theobaldo de Nigris school in Sao Paulo
This school was one of the first in Brazil to install simulators several years ago (but not the only one). In fact, of the 4 teams in the semi-finals, three were from SENAI schools – including some who had never used simulators until this year. This shows the emphasis the SENAI puts on good industrial printing practice and on good training equipment for their students.
