wifag//polytype strengthens its presence in the German market and expands its automation and retrofitting activities

A new competence center for automation and retrofitting at the company's location in Hamburg

wifag//polytype, specialist for printing, coating and converting technology with headquarters in Fribourg (Switzerland), is strengthening its presence in Germany in the field of automation/retrofitting: Ömer Sengün (54), a longstanding senior employee at a company specializing in controlling and automation for the printing industry, is currently engaged in establishing a competence center for automation and retrofitting at wifag//polytype GmbH in Hamburg. Over the past few weeks, a number of other employees have been engaged, many of whom are highly experienced in automation projects.

Working closely with the ACC, the Automation Competence Center of the wifag//polytype Group in Fribourg (Switzerland) under the leadership of Rolf Mani, the new team aims in particular to give German newspaper printers access to the whole range of solutions offered by wifag//polytype. This should provide an attractive alternative to existing system suppliers.

The Swiss Group attaches greater importance to a comprehensive portfolio than other system suppliers in the field of printing, coating and converting: in addition to the tried and trusted yet innovative processes of wifag//polytype, such as plant engineering, a considerable amount of research and development work has been carried out in Fribourg (Switzerland) over the past few years in the areas of automation and work flow, software solutions and digital printing.

This means the new competence center in Hamburg can offer advisory services and assume overall responsibility for far more complex projects than companies specializing only in automation and retrofitting. Thanks to the expertise of the wifag//polytype Group in both conventional and digital printing technology, challenging future-oriented projects can be realized using the Group's own knowhow.

Meanwhile, many newspaper printers all over the world have come to rely on the skills of the Swiss automation specialist, regardless of the brand of their rotary printing press. For example, //wifag has been offering its own control station solution since 2012. wifag//polytype continues to cooperate with the Swiss company Gamag in the domain of retrofitting and reconfigurations.
