TRESU premieres light-weight carbon fibre chambered doctor blade, integrated printing units for universal flexo uses at ICE Europe 2015

TRESU Group (Hall A6, Stand 474) the global supplier of flexo technology, presents time-saving, quality-enhancing ancillary solutions that control ink supply, and integrated printing systems for packaging, graphics and textile applications at ICE Europe 2015 at the Munich Trade Fair Centre, Germany, 10-12 March. At the show, TRESU's family of light weight carbon fibre chambered doctor blades will make its global début.

TRESU Carbon Fibre Chambered Doctor Blade Programme

TRESU's Ancillary division specializes in enclosed, automated systems that optimise control of ink / coating flow, pressure, viscosity and temperature, thereby minimizing manual intervention, raising productivity and maintaining quality consistency throughout the printing run. Ancillary product highlights include ink supply systems, chambered doctor blade systems and plate cleaners.
A highlight of the TRESU stand is the new programme of lightweight carbon fibre chambered doctor blade systems offer improved chemical resistance, optimised flow and safe, easy handling in virtually all flexo printing situations.

The carbon fibre composition gives the chamber high-strength qualities, enabling a relatively low weight of between 2.4kg and 4.1kg per linear metre, and thus easing chamber exchange. Inside the chamber, a top-coated ink-repellent surface offers extra protection against ink and detergents with high and low pH-values and ensures efficient, thorough cleaning after job completion. Other design features include enhanced chamber volume, controlled discharge and reduced ink / coating circulation volume.

The carbon fibre programme comprises two variants, with pneumatic (P-Line) or eccentric (E-Line) clamping systems that allow changeover of stainless or plastic steel blades within two minutes. Featuring the company's patented seal system, preventing leakage and enabling longer ink life, the chambers are retrofittable with all TRESU's currently available chamber doctor blade systems and are compatible with both manual and closed-loop control systems, like the TRESU F10 iCon Ink Control System.

The enclosed environment, resulting from the seal and precise blade positioning, ensures pressure and flow rate are maintained at desired levels without manual intervention. This stops air contaminating the chamber and results in foam free transfer of ink / coating directly to the anilox cells, also at fast speeds. The enclosed chamber also prevents solvents from escaping and protects the ink from degradation due to exposure to the atmosphere.

F10 iCon ink supply system

For common impression flexo printing situations, the F10 iCon ink supply system automates ink pressure and viscosity in flexo printing machines. This, in turn, ensures a constant, accurate ink density on the printed substrate and prevents air from contaminating the ink chamber.
The energy-efficient system also provides thorough fully automatic cleaning, removing ink and residue from the chamber, achieving a complete ink change cycle in five to ten minutes.

Henrik Kristensen, vice president, TRESU Ancillary, comments: "Thanks to its time-saving advantages, optimized fluid control and resilience, the TRESU carbon fibre chamber offers a long-term solution for high productivity, low ownership costs and uniform quality."

TRESU Solutions: seamlessly integrating flexo technology into industrial converting lines
TRESU's Solutions division specialises in integrating bespoke-designed flexo units into existing converting and assembly lines, where inline printing or coating is required for regulatory, functional or promotional requirements. End-user markets include detergent pouches, packaging, aerosols, industrial coating, lottery cards, nonwovens, wallcovering and graphics. The division draws on TRESU's 30-year engineering and retrofitting expertise to develop systems that operate seamlessly alongside other processes without compromising the productivity of the converting line, and mimimising extra handling, labour or footprint requirements.
A highlight of the integrated solutions programme, showcased at ICE Europe, is a customised flexo printing solution for integration into a water-soluble detergent pouch filling and converting line. Developed in collaboration with a large global consumer goods manufacturer with plants at several locations, the new integration solution enables household detergent manufacturers to comply with a new European safety directive requiring individual capsules to carry warning messages. The ruling is a consequence of injuries suffered by children who mistake the brightly coloured capsules used in washing machines or dishwashers as sweets, and ingest them.
Allan Sander, Sales Director of TRESU Solutions, comments: "The resulting solution will ensure brand owners can meet the new safety regulations, promote consumer protection and maintain seamless, uninterrupted single-pass production with no extra handling required."
Contained within a space-saving printing module before the pouch-filling stage, the multi-colour servo-driven solution offers operator-friendly, fully automated ink flow and job setup, making it ideal for operation without in-house flexo experience. To further reduce manual intervention, a register module after the printing stations maintains precise positioning of fine text automatically, on the fly. Furthermore, a control system stores and, in the case of repeat jobs, instantly recalls job recipes, so no re-entry of ink and calibration data is needed.
