Eco-friendly printing with Agfa Graphics' CtP system benefits 48,000 students and staff at one of the nation's largest school districts
Time for a quiz: which school district has increased the quality of its printed materials, is saving time and is doing its printing in a more eco-friendly way? If your answer is "Anchorage School District" then you are correct!
There are nearly 48,000 children in the Anchorage School District (www.asdk12.org), placing it in the top 100 largest school districts in the nation. The ASD's Publication Services group recently began using the Azura TS chemistry-free CtP printing system, which includes an Avalon N8-20 CtP engine with an Azura C125 processor. The group is responsible for the district's business cards, letterhead, envelopes, saddle-stitched booklets, 1-color, 2-color, 3-color, 4-color spot and process, fliers, brochures, rack cards and more -- everything that anyone in the school district needs.
"Digital imaging is superior to analog methods. The processing is clean and easy and plates run perfectly," said Pam Butcher, Publication Services supervisor, Anchorage School District. "In particular, we like that the Azura TS plates are environmentally-friendly and our press operators appreciate the quality."
Azura TS is a thermal, negative-working plate for low/medium volume commercial printing, delivering simplicity, robustness and reliable and predictable printing results. The elimination of chemistry removes all process variables and simplifies platemaking for consistent results. Since transitioning to the system last October, the ASD has found its printing is of higher quality, and the work is done faster.
