With the success of its newly-launched Pharma Insert Opaque, Appleton Coated is expanding the grade into a complete range of lightweight opaque products consisting of five basis weights. It is designed and manufactured specifically for high-speed production of pharmaceutical insert and onsert projects.
"The initial product launch has gone extremely well and customer feedback is very positive. The top request is to expand the grade line and offer additional basis weights," says John Mazuroski, Appleton Coated's business development manager for technical and specialty products. He continues, "As this grade expansion shows, the demand is there and we have the product development and manufacturing skills to bring these technically demanding products to market quickly and efficiently. This groundwood-free product delivers exceptional converting and gluing on all types of equipment and is providing customers with increased print fidelity."
Appleton Coated Pharma Insert Opaque is available in 26-, 27-, 30-, 35-, and 40-pound basis weights and is being offered in rolls and sheets. Acid-free, enhanced elemental chlorine-free (EECF) and pH neutral, it may be ordered with post-consumer recovered fiber (PCRF), as FSC® certified (FSC® C007796); SFI® certified and with Green-e® certified Green Power. For all grades that carry the Green Power designation, 100% of the electricity used to manufacture these products is matched with renewable energy credits (RECs) from Green-e certified energy sources, primarily wind.
The first North American coated paper mill to be FSC certified, Appleton Coated has a strong environmental management system in place as evidenced by its ISO 14001 certification. Appleton Coated is an EPA Green Power Partner and requires that all of its out-bound carriers are EPA Smart-Way certified. It has been recognized by the Green Master's Program of the Wisconsin Sustainable Business Council as one of their Green Masters Award Companies. In addition, it is one of six Green Tier II companies recognized by the Wisconsin DNR as having exceptional environmental management systems in place.
