Label Summit Latin America closes with increased opportunities for business growth in the Andean market

The 11th edition of Label Summit Latin America drew its highest ever number of attendees as it concluded in Medellin last week. 747 senior level delegates including label and package printers and brand owners joined together to analyze the application of best practices and new technologies to accelerate business opportunities and economic development across the Andean region.

Held in Colombia for the first time, the two-day event which featured a packed conference program, table-top exhibition and networking function, is the largest gathering for the label and package printing industry in Latin America.

USDA Fails To Verify Food Label Claims, Says Animal Welfare Institute

A new report reveals the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) is failing to verify the accuracy of label claims on meat and poultry products sold in the United States.

Released by the Animal Welfare Institute (AWI), Label Confusion: How "Humane" And "Sustainable" Claims On Meat Packages Deceive Consumers exposes the lack of any apparent verification of food label claims used on millions of meat packages, and calls on USDA to require independent third-party certification to prevent consumers from being misled.

Flint Group to host AWA Shrink Label Seminar and Workshop in Plymouth, MN in June 2014

The Future Direction of Clean Labels

Clean labels are becoming ubiquitous in the food industry, with a growing number of companies marketing their products with 'free-from' labels. Organic Monitor research finds that the mushrooming number of free-from claims is bringing many challenges.

Organic is the largest clean label in the food industry. Certified organic products represent agricultural products grown without certain synthetic pesticides, fertilisers and growth promoters. Since the introduction of formal standards in the 1990s, the global market for organic products has grown from almost nothing to US $64 billion.

Label Summit Indonesia 2014 line-up unveiled

Registration is now open as Label Summit Indonesia 2014 heads to Jakarta where its second edition will be held at Balai Kartini between 18-19 June. Building on last year's success, the Summit will feature a mix of technical presentations, case studies and panel discussions and explore new printing technologies and their applications and regional and international printing trends.

The two-day conference program, which is packed with 16 sessions, will also look at packaging trends, materials, anti-counterfeiting as well as brand development, product design and positioning.
