Ahaus Tool & Engineering Invests In Equipment Upgrade

Okuma Millac 1052V II Vertical Machining Center to Expand Company's Capabilities

Ahaus Tool & Engineering, Inc., a leading provider of high-quality solutions to challenging manufacturing, tooling and automation equipment needs, is pleased to announce the company has recently purchased and installed a new vertical machining center, greatly expanding the company's production capabilities, specifically in medium- and large-part machining and workholding fixtures.

The Okuma Millac 1052V II Vertical Machining Center has an 11,000-pound load capacity, and an 86 x 41-inch table capable of handling large size and quantities of parts. The machining center is equipped with the latest in Okuma THINC OSP-P300M Control and Thermal Compensation, TAS-S & TAS-C, and a 30-HP motor and 6,000-rpm spindle capable of cutting aluminum, stainless steel, tool steels and exotic material.

"Our goal is to use the Okuma Millac 1052V II every day to enhance our machining capability for workholding fixture base plate requirements, doing special work on large vacuum molds, assembly machine sub-plates and various large special shapes in all types of metals," said Kevin Ahaus, president. "The isolated sub-floor gives the Okuma great accuracy and repeatability."

The Okuma Millac 1052V II features traditional box ways on all axes to provide high levels of accuracy and rigidity over the long term. With the use of variable speed gear head and large-diameter spindle bearings, the machining center can perform heavy-duty cutting and rapid machining with large torque from low to high speeds.

"This is the fun part of my job," added Ahaus. "I am always on the lookout for new equipment that will help Ahaus and our customers now and in the future, and show our commitment to combining technology with American craftsmanship."
