Samsung Electronics America Inc., a market leader and award-winning innovator in consumer electronics, and global education leader Houghton Mifflin Harcourt (HMH), announced today a strategic global partnership to offer HMH's interactive education content and solutions on Samsung's range of Android-powered tablet devices, including the GALAXY Note 10.1. HMH will also bring hundreds of HMH titles to Samsung's Learning Hub platform – available in select international markets.

As part of a shared commitment to transform learning through technology, Samsung and HMH have partnered to develop the award-winning HMH FuseTM application – the world's first full-curriculum algebra and geometry apps – for the Android platform, extending access to the product to a greater number of schools and students.

"Samsung believes that innovative technology can empower educators and enable a more engaging learning environment for students," said Bumcoo Cho, SVP, Enterprise Business Team, Mobile Communications Division at Samsung Electronics. "This partnership with HMH is an important part of our commitment to providing both teachers and students with rich, interactive educational content across our GALAXY tablet lineup and through the Learning Hub application."

"Transforming 21st century education will require thoughtful partnerships between leading technology innovators and content providers such as Samsung and HMH," said Tim Cannon, Executive Vice President, Strategy and Alliances for Houghton Mifflin Harcourt. "By making our award-winning educational content available and optimized on a wide variety of devices, we ensure that more students than ever can access and benefit from quality, effective instructional materials."

HMH Fuse engages students and stimulates learning beyond the capabilities of traditional curriculum delivery through personalized lesson plans and interactive content. With HMH Fuse, students receive step−by−step animated instruction, instant feedback on practice questions, the ability to write, record and save notes, and access to more than 400 video tutorials with the touch of a finger – even when their devices are not connected to the Internet. Students can take individual assessments on their own after completing each chapter, and then seamlessly upload all usage and test result data to teachers.

As a result of the partnership HMH Fuse National Algebra 1; Common Core Algebra 1; Common Core Algebra 2; and Common Core Geometry will be available on Samsung tablets. The new HMH Fuse applications for Android will be optimized for Samsung's GALAXY Tab 2 Series (7" and 10.1") and the GALAXY Note 10.1. Users can take advantage of the GALAXY Note's advanced S Pen technology to work through a problem on the Fuse application's "scratch pad" and interact with content.

In the coming months, the partnership between HMH and Samsung will also see a wide variety of HMH educational content and trade and reference titles made available on Samsung's Learning Hub service – available in the UK and other select markets. The Learning Hub – Samsung's exclusive platform for educational content – fosters education through instant access to textbooks, important trade literature, videos and lectures.

Samsung and HMH are showcasing their latest offerings, including the HMH Fuse application for Android, at TCEA 2013, the US's leading educational technology convention, which takes place at the Austin Convention Center in Austin, Texas from February 6-8, 2013. Samsung will exhibit in booth #2570, while HMH will present its educational content and solutions in booth #2227.
