Spreadtrum Chipsets are Adopted for Samsung WCDMA Tablets and Smartphone

Spreadtrum Communications ("Spreadtrum"), a leading fabless semiconductor company inChina with advanced technology in 2G, 3G and 4G wireless communication standards, today announced that its quad-core mobile chipset, the SC7730ST, and its dual-core mobile chipset, the SC7727S, have been adopted by Samsung in a series of tablets and smartphones that combine advanced features with affordability and portability, designed to meet the needs of consumers in markets around the world.

The SC7730ST is now shipping in the Samsung GALAXY Tab 3 V tablets, which are slim and light 7" models available with WCDMA (SM-T116 series) and Wi-Fi® (SM-T113 series) features. These tablets, designed with Spreadtrum's 1.3GHz quad-core processor, feature a 7" WSVGA display, a 2MP camera, 8GB internal memory and 1GB RAM, a 32GB MicroSD slot and extended battery life of up to 8 hours on video playback.

The SC7727S is now shipping in the Samsung GALAXY J1 smartphone (SM-J100). The GALAXY J1, which features Spreadtrum's 1.2GHz dual-core processor, supports WCDMA/HSPA+, has a 4.3" display with Android 4.4, a 5MP rear camera and 2MP front-facing camera, 4GB internal memory, 512MB RAM, and up to 128GB MicroSD slot.
