GrafiWrap Audi wins TOTAL 24 HOURS OF SPA

The Audi takes the lead right from the start. The 66th edition oof the Total 24 Hours of Spa/Francorchamps became a true classic. During this top event within the Blancpain Endurance Series, drives had to battle until the very end to know the eventual winner of an extremely hard-fought race.

The 2014 edition of the Total 24 Hours of Spa was started under an extremely warm summer sun - the place was fully packed and the crowd was great. The GrafiWrap/WRT Audi #1, with Laurens Vanthoor, René Rast and Markus Winkelhock at the wheel, started from pole position and immediately took the lead before going into the first turn.

During the first four hours of the race, the pace car constantly had to come on the track - after numerous accidents and many cars retiring, it were mainly the GrafiWrap/WRT Audis that dominated the race. And it remained like that for the entire race. Until about a quarter of an hour before the end of the race, both GrafiWrap Audis were battling with the BMW #77, but then the Audi #1 took the lead again, to end the race 7 seconds ahead of the second car.

Laurens Vanthoor was thrilled with this victory: "It was extremely hard today, as I fell ill on Sunday morning. My German co-pilots moved up a gear, and we managed to pull it off in the end". Vanthoor was thrilled not only because he achieved his first win in the 24 Hours of Spa, but also because it earned him, WRT and his loyal partner GrafiWrap the first place in the overall ranking of the Blancpain Endurance Series, in which a new end victory is coming closer.
