City printers, TG Print & Design, push into ultra-high quality market with LumeJet S200

TG Print & Design, the Woolwich Arsenal based printing and design company, is about to take delivery of a LumeJet S200 printer. Probably better known for its work in the flyer market where it offers rapid turnround, low priced products, the investment in a LumeJet reflects the company's ongoing push to diversify its offering.

Recently the company has invested in equipment that has allowed it to to offer products such as secure tickets, banners and canvas prints. However, the purchase of the LumeJet S200 will, explains TG Print & Design's Managing Director, Dave Duhig, take the company's diversification a huge step further.

"To be quite honest we had no intention of making a capital investment right now", said Dave Duhig. "We had invested in specialized kit over the previous few years and were looking to make that pay. However, when we saw the quality of the LumeJet S200's output we felt that there was a real opportunity to take our diversification further.

"While it may seem like a huge step away from our existing customer base, it actually isn't quite as big as it first appears. We already deal with customers who want high quality products, as we produce flyers for galleries, photographers, artists, and jewellers. To be able to offer them the ultra-high quality output from the LumeJet in other formats just allows us to keep those customers in house.

"We see the early adoption of technology, like the LumeJet, as an opportunity to diversify and, above all, offer a service which will return a profit. The S200 will dovetail with our existing technology giving our clients really high end products, and at the same time providing us with a profitable revenue stream", said Dave Duhig

The new services the company can offer will be promoted to its current client base, but TG Print is also in the process of developing several specialist web-to-print portals that will provide orders to keep the S200 busy. In particular the company sees the potential of short run, layflat books combined with high end finishing which it already has in house.

"It is fantastic to see an innovative and commercially oriented print company buy a LumeJet S200 because it can see that offering existing and new clients ultra-high quality products is a commercial prospect," said Miles Bentley, LumeJet's Commercial Director. "These are certainly the first, early, steps for LumeJet and its technology, but the future holds so much potential."
