Schwäbisch Hall subsidiary chooses the Xeikon 8500

Schwäbisch Hall Facility Management GmbH addresses the need for high quality versioned print on demand with a Xeikon 8500

A subsidiary company of Germany's largest building society relies on digital printing with Xeikon: A Xeikon 8500 digital printing system with a five-color configuration has been in operation since July 2015 at Schwäbisch Hall Facility Management GmbH (SHF), a subsidiary of the Schwäbisch Hall building society. The company operates both the printing and mailing center for the building society as well as for external digital printing customers and is now able to use the press to cost-effectively produce versioned, and even personalized, print jobs in very high quality. The costly and time-consuming pre-printing of offset litho shells is now a thing of the past.

For SHF, the fundamental success factor for the innovative digital printing press is that it is firmly in tune with the times. Michael Köhler, Facility Manager of Central Printing at SHF, is a firm believer in the concept: "With its varied technological printing options, the Xeikon 8500 is the perfect response to the drive toward smaller runs of more customized materials. Our customers today prefer higher quality and more focused direct marketing campaigns that can be aimed at smaller target groups, even down to the individual level. This is precisely what we can now do."

The press also gives SHF's customers the ability to exploit their creative potential even more and leverage customer data for more effective communications. Because each print that comes off the press can be different, designers can take advantage of templates that enable the use of data to create communications that are personalized to each recipient, including promotional mailers, flyers and brochures. In addition to giving customers more design flexibility, the new Xeikon 8500 will allow SHF to expand on the goal of offering its customers a striking level of quality. Köhler confirms, "The digital printing press provides our customers with high quality prints, matchless flexibility and improved productivity. Our printing center is now equipped to meet both current and emerging needs while still delivering the exacting quality our customers expect."

Digital color printing with offset quality

The Xeikon 8500 digital printing system delivers offset litho quality, allowing jobs like flyers, folders, brochures, posters and business cards to be cost-effectively produced on demand. Schwäbisch Hall specifically chose Xeikon's versatile roll-fed printing system with dry toner that can be configured as roll to roll or roll to sheet depending on the job requirements. A further advantage is the modular design of the Xeikon 8000 series: Should the organisation's print capacity reach its limits, its digital printing system can easily be upgraded to the next speed level without the need to acquire a new press. The fifth color station can be used for opaque white, true custom colors or security toner, giving the press even more flexibility.
