Netstal is strengthening its leading position as system provider

- Swiss system expertise for global use

- Production of ultra light petri dishes in 8+8-cavity mold

Netstal will present the production of ultra light petri dishes in an 8+8-cavity mold at Fakuma in Friedrichshafen (Hall A7, Stand 7304). The Swiss machine manufacturer will demonstrate its top standards of application and system expertise in the production of medical parts and underscore its worldwide leading position as system provider.

Netstal: General contractor from A-Z
As general contractor, Netstal offers its customers extensive added value: from the turnkey planning of an entire production line for all of its business units (medical components, closures, PET packaging, packaging and technical components) all the way to installation and commissioning. While Netstal makes use of its experienced network of partners, the customer gets the system it wants from a single source and with one point of contact.
"Customers come to us with an idea for a product - we pick it up from thereand check its feasibility with in-house specialists and external development partners. The sooner customers get our team on board, the better it is for them. This is because, for example, parts can be designed to be ideally suited for series production further down the road," explains Markus Dal Pian, Netstal's Vice President Marketing & Sales. If, for instance, the customer brings sample parts that are deep-drawn and wants photo-realistic graphics, the designers would propose an appropriate injection-molded part with in-mold labeling.
Netstal brand systems are synonymous with the highest precision, the shortest cycle times, top reliability and durability. In short, they are unmatched with regard to performance and cost-effectiveness in plastic injection molding. "To make sure it stays that way, our engineers and developers are continuously creating new and innovative solutions. And we increasingly assume the role of a general contractor who integrates all system components, optimizes their interaction and coordinates suppliers.
The result is that the customer gets a bespoke system without having to dedicate many of its own personnel to the project. We are also happy to help our customers finance their investments," Dal Pian explained.

Maximum-performance production cell for the manufacture of petri dishes
At Fakuma 2014 in Friedrichshafen, Netstal will present this system expertise and the high performance of its solutions using the example of an 8+8-cavity production system. With a cycle time of less than 3.7 seconds, petri dishes with a diameter of 90 mm will be manufactured on an ELION 3200-1000 with a mold supplied by the Swiss company Schöttli. The material is a polystyrene with a mold flow rate of less than 3.5 g/10 min that
has been approved by the American regulatory agency FDA. The dishes are extremely light with a shot weight of only 107.2 grams and a part weight of 13.4 grams. A yearly production output of 57 million dishes in a production space of only 36 square meters makes for economic efficiency that is unrivaled on the market. With an assumed polystyrene price of ?1.4 per kilogram, the cost of each dish is only 2.4 cents. And, at +0.5 mm/-0.15 mm, the smoothness of the petri dishes is extremely precise. The process is automated using a handling device supplied by the German company Geku. German company Motan is responsible for material preparation, while the cooling device is supplied by Single (Germany).

Production of "Full cover" IML containers and bottle openers at partner stands
At the stand of Netstal's German partner Roth Werkzeugbau (Hall A1, Stand 1332), Netstal will be demonstrating the production of a 7.3-gram polypropylene container on an ELION 2800-1000 with a 4-cavity mold and "Full Cover" in-mold labeling. The cycle time is a rapid 3.9 seconds. The process is automated using a handling device supplied by Waldorf (Germany).
Netstal is teaming up with Germany-based partner Geku Automatisierungssysteme to produce a polycarbonate bottle opener on an ELION 800-130 at its stand (Hall B3, Stand 3107).

Interesting short presentations at the "Service Impulse"
At Fakuma 2014 in Friedrichshafen, the Netstal team from Service & Solutions will provide information as part of its "Service Impulse." As we cover the two main themes of "Total Cost of Ownership" and "Oil and More," customers can learn everything there is to know about our solution-oriented services and innovative products that optimally support them throughout the entire life cycles of their machines. Afterwards, our experts will be available to our customers for question and answer sessions
