Pack Designs Convey Quality and Differentiation

RPC Design has created two bespoke container ranges for automotive aftermarket specialist Comma Oil and Chemicals.

The new designs were devised to establish individual identities for both Comma's own product range and the products it manufactures for customer own-label brands. Both packs needed to project a modern, quality image and maximise on-shelf presence while delivering convenience and functionality. It was also important that they retained the same height and footprint of the previous containers for seamless incorporation into existing filling lines.

The containers for Comma's premium top-tier performance range - named Evolve - feature a striking angular design with two indented lines in the bottom left corner adding an eye-catching detail. The overall impression reflects the high performance nature of the products.

The Evolve range is available in a variety of sizes from 500ml to 5 litres with the bigger containers incorporating a large handle for easy carrying and pouring. A warm grey pigment provides the ideal complement to Comma's new branding and logo to establish effective product differentiation on-shelf.

For Comma's customer own-label business, RPC has created an equally distinctive design with soft lines and curves. Called the Max 3 range, the combination of a large labelling area and a choice of colour pigments enables Comma to individualise each container in order to establish individual brand identities for the different products packed in the containers. Sizes from 500ml to 5 litres allow the creation of complete family ranges.

Comma has enjoyed a long and fruitful working partnership with RPC, which made the company the natural choice for this latest development.

"As part of our rebranding exercise and introduction of our new logo, it was vital that we established a truly distinctive on-shelf presence that was unique to Comma and emphasised the premium quality performance of our products," explains Comma Sales & Marketing Director Mike Bewsey. "For our own-label customers, the focus was on a flexible design that could be effectively tailored to individual requirements.

"RPC has exactly met our brief and delivered two ranges that meet these various needs while also being extremely functional. The containers ideally complement our new strapline - 'Confidence Comes from Within' - and indeed that could equally apply to our long and successful relationship with RPC."
