Covestro Debuts under new name at Chinaplas 2016

Today, Covestro, formerly Bayer MaterialScience, is appearing under its new name for the first time at Chinaplas, the largest fair for the rubber and plastics industry in Asia. At this occasion, Covestro looks back on a very successful year in 2015 and shares details about the new brand and strategy in China. Since its independence last year, Covestro managed to shape and streamline processes, culture and values to maintain a strong level of growth in the China market. For Michelle Jou, President of Business Unit Polycarbonates of Covestro AG, "this is a tremendous success and there is a lot more to come in Asia Pacific and China with very positive forward looking market growth in the region." drupa EXtended – Baumer hhs invites drupa visitors from around the world to its hhs solution-center

Under the motto "drupa EXtended", Baumer hhs will be inviting visitors to drupa 2016 to come to its hhs solution-center in Krefeld throughout the eleven days of the event. A visit to the ultra-modern test lab is designed to give them the opportunity to meet experts from the company in a quiet atmosphere and to see live presentations of the latest technologies for adhesive application and quality control in the manufacture of packaging and print products. On the one hand, "drupa EXtended" stands for the products and solutions of the Baumer hhs X family, which include the Xmelt hot-melt systems, the Xcam camera systems and the Xtend2 controllers, for example. On the other hand, "drupa EXtended" also refers to the EXtended business hours of the hhs solution-center, which will be open until at least 8.00 p.m. throughout the exhibition, and also at the weekend. The programme of "drupa EXtended" will be rounded off by offers of practical tests relating to new requirements, as well as crash courses in adhesive application and quality control. At either location, visitors will have the chance to ask all their most urgent questions on these topics. By car or taxi, it takes just 15 minutes to get from the Düsseldorf exhibition grounds to the hhs solution-center in Krefeld-Uerdingen. So, particularly for visitors who have to travel a long way to get to drupa, the hhs solution-center is almost on the doorstep of the exhibition in Düsseldorf.

The European Aluminium Foil Association (EAFA) has selected three Amcor packaging solutions as winners of an Alufoil Trophy 2016 in the categories of Consumer Convenience, Technical Innovation, and Resource Efficiency.

Winning an award for Consumer Convenience, Emmi’s “All In One Fondü” is a ready-to-eat cheese fondue contained in a microwaveable metal bowl with an easy-peel aluminium foil lid. To prepare the All In One Fondü, the bowl is heated in a microwave or oven and then kept at the right temperature over a small candle in a specially designed can holder. The fondue can be eaten directly from the bowl. This novel packaging won a joint award for Ardagh Group and Amcor.

New Ultra High Barrier, Transparent Packaging Lets the Product Inside Shine Through

Transparent packaging that allows consumers to see the product inside has been a growing trend on store shelves in recent years, but metal-free packaging was often not a practical option for products requiring an outstanding barrier. "Transparent packaging responds to several consumer packaging trends," said Marco Hilty, vice president of strategy, marketing and R&D at Amcor Flexibles EMEA. "There is a move toward more minimalist packaging designs, while at the same time providing consumers more information to verify that products are fresh and healthy. Metal-free packaging also links to the desire for more sustainable packaging solutions."
