RT Media Partners with World Class Institute at Cal Poly to Host Imaging Summit

On the back of acquiring the highly respected, Californian based Toner Conference series in late 2014, Recycling Times Media (RT Media) has secured the support of the world class Graphic Communication Institute at Cal Poly -- GrCI (www.grci.calpoly.edu) in promoting the RT Imaging Summit and Expo.

GrCI has swung its full support behind RT Media to host the RT Imaging Summit & Expo on May 14 and 15 at the South Point Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas.

Founded in 1901, Cal Poly is a public university located in San Luis Obispo, California. Being in close proximity to Silicon Valley, the "high-tech" center for some of the world's leading software and technology developers, Cal Poly is uniquely and geographically positioned in North America between Asia and Europe. In fact, one might argue that Cal Poly is not on the West Coast, but on the East Coast of the Pacific Rim. For this and related reasons, the GrCI is the best partner to host this unique summit and expo.

Attendees, delegates, exhibitors, media, speakers and sponsors of the fresh two-day RT Imaging Summit & Expo in Las Vegas will join other imaging industry leaders to explore the impact of the merger and acquisition of imaging giants in 2015, to unpack the impact of industry legal battles, to examine market trends, technical updates, and explore advances in bio- and petro-toners, and the impact of the growth of inkjet technologies.

In addition to acquiring the rights to The Tiara Group's celebrated Toner Conference series, RT Media also successfully acquired the US-based imaging media icon, Recharger Magazine and the Spain-based Consumibles E-Magazine in 2014. The annual Toner Conference series, birthed in 1984, continues to be the unique opportunity for OEM and aftermarket players in the print consumables industry, along with their raw material and plant machinery suppliers, to meet face-to-face in a business-to-business (b2b) format with clients and competitors.

As a part of this agreement, Art Diamond -- the 58-year veteran of the imaging industry who launched the Toner Conference series 31 years ago -- will assist as co-chair of the Las Vegas RT Imaging Summit & Expo. Diamond is known internationally as a consulting chemical engineer, holds 15 US imaging patents, and authored the "Handbook of Imaging Materials." Diamond said, "I'm very happy we reached this agreement with Cal Poly and The Tiara's Terry Gorka. Now, two great events will merge into one splendid, omnibus summit and expo, promising a focus on issues, a larger crowd, savings on tickets, and affordable room rates at one of the largest hotels on the Vegas Strip."

Lyndee Sing, newly appointed Director of the GrCI, said, "The Graphic Communication Institute at Cal Poly is committed to supporting technological advances in the production and distribution of print. Developments in toner technology, and the printing systems that use them, have kept the graphic communication industry vibrant with great promise for profitable growth in the future. Partnering with RT Media for the 2015 RT Imaging Summit further affirms our commitment to the industry." Dr Harvey Levenson, Cal Poly Professor Emeritus, and well-known industry expert, will also be advising on the planning stages of the conference and also presenting. Levenson will be introducing a new topic on "fending off patent trolls and protecting OEM intellectual property." Levenson added, "This is a vitally important topic particularly for technologies that are software driven as is the case with most toner and inkjet applied technologies."

Tony Lee, Managing Director of RT Media said it's an important step in pulling the global industry together. "We are pleased to welcome former Toner Conference attendees and sponsors to our global network of events and publications."
