swissQprint delivers its 500th UV printer

This team has built 500 swissQprint machines to date: hand-crafted and with 93% of their components made in Switzerland.A Nyala 2 UV inkjet printer started working at Atelier Bischof AG in Tübach, Switzerland in early February. It is the 500th printer to be delivered by developer and producer swissQprint.

Atelier Bischof is a signage services provider based in Tübach, near Lake Constance. The family-owned company celebrated 50 years in business last year, and for its anniversary decided to purchase a new UV printer in order to stay out in front as regards technology and productivity. They chose a Nyala 2 and, as chance would have it, their machine was the 500th to be shipped by its Swiss producer swissQprint. The large-format printer went into operation on 4 February 2015.

Klaus Veitinger (2nd from right) of Spandex put it into operation. The Nyala 2 UV printer delivers a maximum output of 206 square metres per hour. Its generously sized 3.2 × 2 m printing table affords plenty of space for popular board formats. Equipped with the roll to roll option, it can also handle all kinds of jobs based on roll stock. Nine freely configurable colour channels as well as other options make it a universal production workhorse, which can also keep going non-stop in tandem operation.

So it was also this large-format printer's versatility, print quality and performance that tipped the balance for Atelier Bischof. Managing director Roger Neff had the machine demonstrated on site several times, putting it to the test with tricky print jobs. Neff and his team wanted to make certain that replacing two existing Océ Arizona inkjet printers with just one swissQprint Nyala 2 would be the right move. Test results ultimately spoke in favour and Atelier Bischof placed the order: a Nyala 2 it would be, equipped with six colours (CMYK supplemented by light magenta and light cyan), as well as white and effect varnish. And the printer should be equipped for roll to roll work, too.

A swissQprint delegation accompanied the delivery of their 500th machine on 4 February. Sales partner Spandex was also on-site for commissioning, and congratulated both customer and supplier on the occasion of this milestone. Incidentally, it is the first Nyala 2 printer to find a home inside Switzerland. This model celebrated its world premiere at last year's FESPA in May. Thus, the entire swissQprint range (Oryx, Impala, Nyala, Nyala 2) is now represented in the Swiss market.

Quite a lot of the Nyala 2's output will be on public view soon. Atelier Bischof offers a comprehensive portfolio of services: POS and display items, out-of-home media, lettered foils and trade-show booths. The swissQprint large format printer will be in use wherever direct printing is required. For example, Swiss consumers will in future be catching sight of its print products in DIY stores. Other customers of Atelier Bischof include a Swiss ski manufacturer, several organisers of large-scale sporting events, big-name associations and numerous small and mid-sized businesses in a variety of industries. Each appreciates the all-round, reliable service that Atelier Bischof provides.
