New package will help meet demand in Arizona, California and Texas markets
SanTan Brewing Company is adding to its canned beer line-up with the official launch of SunSpot Golden Ale in Rexam 12 oz. cans.
SunSpot Gold, which is described as an American take on a traditional Blonde Ale, is brewed with light amounts of hops and American pale barley. It boasts a deep, rich golden color and delicate hop character. This brew was developed for and inspired by the hot, dry climate of Arizona.
SunSpot Gold was the very first beer ever brewed at SanTan Brewing Company in 2007, and serves as the inspiration for all of San Tan's Southwestern style ales. Putting it in cans comes on the heels of the company's recent expansion into southern California and upcoming launch in Texas.
"I became fascinated by Mesoamerican civilizations like the Aztecs, Mayans and Olmecs while studying archaeology in college and wanted to create a brew that captured the essence of these ancient cultures," said Anthony Canecchia, SanTan founder and brewmaster. "Continuing our partnership with Rexam, we are able to expand our distribution for this unique brew by putting it in cans which provide many benefits for beer."
Aluminum cans deliver durability, portability, complete protection from light and oxygen to preserve beverage freshness and integrity, as well as sustainability. Cans are infinitely recyclable, as they are able to be recycled, converted to cans again and back on retail shelves within 60 days.

SanTan beers have won numerous national and state-wide awards including two medals at the US Open Beer Championship: bronze in 2013 and gold in 2011. SanTan Brewing also took home a silver medal at the 2011 Great American Beer Festival and won Best Brewery in Arizona, selected by the Phoenix New Times and the Arizona Republic, in 2013 and 2011.
SunSpot Gold is available now at select retailers throughout Arizona and southern California, as well as Texas starting in June.
