For decades the packaging industry has struggled for standardisations beyond the bounds of companies. The specifications of machine manufacturers facilitated this only in parts. More than 25 years ago the DVS company had already started to combine technical know-how of the machine manufacturers' specifications with human experiences in a catalog of criteria.
With the help of a simple question answer dialogue for form, execution and checked formulas it became feasible to obtain an almost identical construction only when the 3 dimensional main measurements (length, width, height) and the materials of the packaging were specified. This is regardless of what packaging developer was confronted with this task.
While this collection of formulas was only available for cardboard and then only on paper fortunately the appearence of the personal computer in the middle of the 1980s allowed this to become so much easier. Now even a non professional could create standard packaging samples with almost no errors within minutes.
In time, the range of possibilities was extended and adapted to the specifications of the big packaging manufacturers' associations (ECMA, FEFCO) including their norm labels and constructions. Complex sub-constructions have also been created even beyond those specifications.
Using packedia pro today, packaging developers have standard catalogues for folding boxes, corrugated cardboard boxes and displays at their disposal. Thanks to the innovative parameterisation module DVSMAP special catalogues for envelopes, CD and DVD packagings can be created on demand according to client specifications.
For several years packedia web-pro in its previous form offered these possibilities as prototypes for testing. This commercial version is available for prospective customers who do not want to install software in their own companies or do want to participate in the centrally managed catalogues from all over the world as SAAS (software as a service).
Today the main catalogues have more than 750 standards which are only the tip of the iceberg for several million sub-constructions. packadia pro and packedia web-pro to be available also in France beside English, Netherland and German languages with immediate effect. Planned are additional languages.
packedia web-pro as well as packedia pro supply result data to the processing for CAD or DTP programs. The widely spread and standardised data format of the DXF serves as a vector interface. Calculation data for the transfer is optionally provided.
