Kodak's Innovation and Leadership in Print Underscored with Two 2015 InterTech™ Technology Awards

Printing Industries of America recognizes KODAK PROSPER 6000 Presses and the NX advantage for the KODAK FLEXCEL NX System for innovation

Kodak has received two of the 10 overall 2015 InterTech™ Technology Awards for its KODAK PROSPER 6000 Presses and newly-launched NX advantage for the KODAK FLEXCEL NX System. Since 1978, the Printing Industries of America (PIA) InterTech™ Technology Awards have honored the development of technologies predicted to have a major impact on the graphic arts and related industries.

The KODAK PROSPER 6000 Presses and NX advantage for the KODAK FLEXCEL NX System were selected by an independent panel of judges based on their innovation and likelihood of advancing the performance of the graphic communications industry. Kodak far exceeded the printing industry's expectations, emerging from this year's competition as the only company to take home more than one award – a true testament to the priority Kodak's R&D teams place on developing the industry's most innovative and sustainable printing technologies.

These two 2015 InterTech™ Technology Awards mark Kodak's 39th and 40th overall InterTech™ Technology Awards to date, including the third overall for the FLEXCEL NX System in seven years – representing a remarkable achievement that emphasizes Kodak's longstanding legacy of delivering breakthrough, game-changing printing technologies. Kodak had previously received InterTech™ accolades for technologies such as NEXPRESS Red Fluorescing Dry Inks, PROSPER S10 Imprinting System and DIGICAP NX Screening. Kodak's focus on innovation and commitment to delivering world-class, sustainable printing technologies to its customers has enabled Kodak to continue to outperform and outpace the competition, solidifying its position as a leader in commercial and packaging printing.

Kodak will be presented with its two InterTech™ Stars before an audience of industry leaders during the 2015 Printing Industries of America Premier Print Awards Gala on September 13, 2015 in Chicago.

"The InterTech™ Technology Awards are not only the print industry's most prestigious honors, they set the bar for printing technology excellence and innovation," said Terry Taber, CTO, Kodak. "Throughout the history of InterTech™, Kodak has strived to deliver the most ground-breaking, eco-friendly printing technologies. Receiving our 39th and 40th InterTech™ Technology Awards is an affirmation of the mission we embarked upon almost 40 years ago."

"The quality, speed and agility at which both the PROSPER 6000 Presses and FLEXCEL NX System produced prints really captured the judges attention," said Dr. Mark Bohan, Printing Industries of America. "Their ability to make real-time adjustments, adapt to changing substrates or eliminate the need for double hits of white and another colors are truly impressive."

"Weighing competitive presses against each other takes careful consideration of a number of different factors," said Darrin Wilen, President, Wilen Direct. "Our decision to purchase the KODAK PROSPER 6000C became much less difficult to make, however, when we were able to see how it marries speed with the quality of the heavy ink coverage required for high-end direct mail."

"Kodak's advanced new screening patterns are completely changing the way our customers look at flexo, and we are proud to be producing what we believe is the most advanced plate quality in the market," said Tristan Zafra, President and CEO, Trisoft Graphics. "Some of the most common problems and challenges we previously faced with flexo printing, such as pin-holing, insufficient opacity and trail edge voids, have been virtually eliminated by the latest NX advantage for the FLEXCEL NX System."
