Kodak's William Mansfield, Director of Worldwide Sales & Marketing for Inkjet Presses, recently hosted a seminar called "Beyond Business Forms: Growing with the KODAK PROSPER 6000 Inkjet Press." He provided further insight into our technology and its capabilities to members of the Japan Business Forms Association in Tokyo.

At the seminar, Mansfield touched on just how powerful the print industry remains. Statistics prove that print remains ROMI (return of marketing investment)-effective, sustainable and ageless. For example, a 2009 study conducted by Forrester Research showed that 62% of adults (ages 25-44) are likely to be influenced by direct mail pieces. The percentage is even higher for older consumers. So how do printers and publishers reach these audiences with their own direct mail pieces? The answer lies within Kodak technology.

The PROSPER 6000 Press makes 14 billion print decisions every second and places more than 800 billion drops of ink with pinpoint precision every minute. It's in the numbers - a lot can happen in a Kodak minute. With topics ranging from general print market dynamics to real world applications of our technology, Mansfield's presentation showed how Kodak technology can effectively help businesses grow and meet their goals. To further business growth, Mansfield provided the following five ideas as key takeaways for "charting your course to the future":

Few businesses will win the race to consolidate print volumes at lower cost per page.
Create new products/services
Innovate with big data, zero inventory and/or unique finishing.
Leverage new paper
Demand lower cost inkjet paper from suppliers (especially glossy paper).
Teach your customers
Educate customers about new possibilities and benefits enabled by inkjet. From deeper relationships comes increased loyalty and profits.
Automate everything
From preflight to management information system (MIS) to finishing, strive for "lights out production." Cost reductions can come from the lower labor and decreased waste. Use the savings to reinvest in your business and fuel new growth.
