SGI Dubai 2020 features car wrapping

Next year’s edition will have a dedicated area for car wrapping applications and consumables.

SGI Dubai 2020 show, the biggest and most comprehensive exhibition catering not only to the signage and textile printing markets in the region and beyond, is proud to announce a dedicated car wrap area at its next edition from January 12-14, 2019 in Dubai.
Wrapping cars, buses, lorries and even trams and trains is an increasing market segment for print service providers. One of the earliest cosmetic vinyl treatments dates to the 1950s and an aftermarket product by Newhouse Automotive Industries of Los Angeles, California. Costs for DIY partial decorative (plaid or polka dot) vinyl treatments ranged at that time from $10-$20. A large milestone in the shift from small production vinyl lettering to a full vehicle vinyl color change took place in Germany in 1993 when the vinyl manufacturer Kay Premium Marking Films (KPMF) was asked to produce a film to be used in place of paint for the purpose of converting cars into taxis. At this time, German taxi companies were required by law to paint their fleets in a government mandated color, beige. KMPF provided an alternative to painting, which allowed taxi companies to bring a large fleet of vehicles into compliance with German law while maintaining the future resale value of the vehicle.
Over the years, color change vinyl wraps, paint color matching vinyl wraps, and overlaminates evolved to include complex and creative graphic designs and advanced colors. Metallic, chrome, color shifting and even vinyl wraps that match OEM paint code colors are nowadays available.
Car enthusiasts in the UAE have been accelerating the trend and increasingly large format printing companies are expanding their businesses to cater to customer demand. Car wraps offer nearly unlimited branding and advertising opportunities that companies, large and small, are using for promotion.
At SGI Dubai 2020 visitors will be able to dive deep into the technology as well as see and procure materials and large format printers that enable their businesses to thrive and increase profits.
