PROMIS installs an additional Speedmaster XL 75-6+L UV and a Diana X 80 folding carton gluing machine
Increased efficiency for high-quality pharmaceuticals packaging
Russian folding carton print shop PROMIS based in Nizhny Novgorod has invested in new equipment from Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG (Heidelberg). The company has augmented its production operations with an additional six-color Speedmaster XL 75 with coating unit and UV technology and a new Diana X 80 folding carton gluing machine. PROMIS is so satisfied with its first Speedmaster XL 75-6+L UV that it has installed a second identical press just 18 months on. The initial press features the 100th printing unit from the Speedmaster XL 75 series delivered to Russia and other CIS countries.
PROMIS is a leading manufacturer of folding cartons and the accompanying packaging inserts for the Russian pharmaceutical industry. The print shop was founded in 1994 and currently employs 260 staff.
"Almost three years ago, we launched our '20 Keys' strategic program, similar to lean production, with the goal of optimizing our processes and working cost-effectively," says PROMIS CEO Yev Eugeny Slinyakov. PROMIS scoured the market for the most efficient options and found that the new Heidelberg equipment supports its objectives.
Speedmaster XL 75 UV delivers shorter setup times and significant cost savings
The Speedmaster XL 75 is known for its high levels of productivity and automation. Both presses at PROMIS are equipped with the Prinect Axis Control color measuring system that ensures significantly faster inking-up and less waste during setup. The Speedmaster XL 75 also delivers the high levels of quality that customers demand.
According to Slinyakov, the company has achieved nearly threefold increase in productivity over the last six years, with a press now printing 50,000 sheets with five to six job changes in a single shift. The productivity optimization process is therefore largely complete.
Diana X 80 - fast and flexible with top-quality results
The Diana X 80 folding carton gluing machine is also making a significant contribution to optimizing processes. It is configured for production of standard packaging, including straightline cartons. One of its main areas of application is the pharmaceutical industry, where high-quality cartons have to be produced at speeds of up to 500 meters per minute. Its modular design means it can be easily adapted to different conditions depending on requirements. The Diana X 80 is extremely flexible and excels thanks to its short makeready times and high levels of productivity, cost-efficiency, and processing quality.
