Polar update for expanding Penrith company

H&H Reed Printers is replacing a ten year old Polar 78X guillotine with the latest Polar 78N Plus cutting technology.
"We have a policy of upgrading equipment regularly and having had very good service from the 78X we did not need to look at an alternative make. We like Polar kit," says managing director Andy Jackson.

Launched last Drupa, the N series Polars are the 11th generation of guillotines from the German manufacturer. The N Plus that H& H Reeds is taking features an 18.5 inch touch screen and Linus software. The N stands for network-capable high speed cutters. It is future-proof, being capable of full integration into data workflows and MIS systems. H&H Reeds was an early adopter of Postpress Manager, having added it along with a Stahlfolder TH 56 two years ago.
The new guillotine will be delivered to the Penrith company next month. It will run alongside a larger Polar 115 cutter and will be used for jobbing work.
"We continue to be very busy, productive and successful. As a result of acquisitions over the last four years we operate across three sites in Cumbria. We have taken the opportunity as part of this deal to extend our service contract across both guillotines for the next two years. Heidelberg service is excellent," says Mr Jackson.
H&H Reeds serves a comprehensive market, from councils and local government through to large and small independent customers, with a broad range of products. These include everything from business cards to 500,000 run colour leaflets and magazine work. The business operates 24 hours a day.
