HELP, Inc. Selects Xerox to Support Motor-Carrier Technology

HELP, Inc., a non-profit, public-private partnership dedicated to motor-carrier safety, has selected Xerox (NYSE: XRX) to provide technology solutions, site operations and customer service for PrePass – its advanced Automated Vehicle Identification technology.

PrePass saves the trucking industry time, fuel and money by enabling qualified motor carriers to electronically comply with state safety, weight and credential requirements – eliminating the need to stop at equipped weigh stations.

HELP and Xerox also offer electronic pre-payment of truck tolls on 78 different toll roads, turnpikes, tunnels and bridges in 15 different states through the PrePass Plus system, and have plans to expand to prepay tolls on several new facilities.

"'Time is money' holds true for any business, but especially for those in the trucking industry who cannot afford losing minutes on the road," said Rich Bastan, group president, Americas Commercial and State Government Transportation, Xerox. "That is why we work with HELP to provide the latest innovative technology to help motor-carrier customers operate more efficiently."

According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, in the 16 years that HELP has been collecting bypass data, PrePass reduced truck emissions by 507,326 metric tons. The system reached an enrollment milestone of 461,974 qualified trucks from nearly 37,000 fleets by the end of 2013, making it the largest deployment of vehicle-to-infrastructure technology in the U.S. to date.

The contract extension builds upon Xerox's existing relationship as HELP's contractor and vendor partner since 2009.
