Epson America Launching Runsense Continuous Heart Rate and GPS Monitors for Sports and Running Enthusiasts

Runsense Leverages World-Class Technology to Measure Critical Training and Exercise Data Including Continuous Heart Rate, Distance, Stride, Pace, Calories and More

Epson America today announced its RunsenseTM GPS sports monitors that give runners, walkers and fitness enthusiasts of all levels precise data to plan, monitor and improve their performance.

The Runsense SF-810 includes a wrist worn continuous heart rate monitor with GPS that features Epson's proprietary bio-sensing, GPS-tracking and motion-sensing technologies to measure, analyze, compare and share performance data. The compact and sleek design features a scratch-resistant interactive display with four customizable screens that include real-time data, with up to three measurements per screen. Runsense is water resistant up to 50 meters, making it the perfect device regardless of your terrain or conditions.

Epson Runsense monitors outdoor running and walking by providing up to 35 different measurements, including continuous heart rate, time elapsed, distance, pace, laps, intervals, speed, calories burned and many more, directly from the wrist without requiring a chest strap. The devices also feature powerful training modes, such as an indoor mode that measures activity level in the gym, helping athletes achieve better results.

"Epson's Runsense is the ideal product for keeping me on track with real-time data on my pace, heart rate, and distance," said Meb Keflezighi, Olympic silver medalist and winner of the 2014 Boston Marathon, the first American male to do so since 1983. "After my run I can easily review my statistics against past workouts to monitor and improve performance, making it great for runners of all levels."

Using Epson's proprietary technology for highly efficient energy usage, Runsense is capable of active GPS tracking for up to 30 hours without recharging. Users can download their workouts, stats and measurements either via Epson's Runsense View portal or the free Run Connect mobile app. The app also enables AGPS (Assisted GPS) to download GPS satellite data directly to the device for faster initial GPS connection.

"Epson has a long history as a core developer of location sensing technologies, and is now bringing that expertise to the North American market with the complete line of Runsense watches," said Randy Bergstedt, manager, Epson Active. "The inclusion of our wrist-mounted heart rate technology sets the Runsense line apart as one of the most advanced in sports technologies. Having the chance to launch this product with the support of a world-class athlete like Meb is a great opportunity for Epson and our customers."
