Presenting the Roland RIP software for Mac OS

At C-Print in Lyon (3 - 5 February) Roland DG presents for the first time, a preview of its new RIP software for Mac OS. PrintStudio is a powerful RIP, with a very user-friendly interface and an Adobe PDF Print Engine (APPE). It complements Roland VersaWorks, the popular RIP which Roland DG supplies as standard with all its printers and which is compatible with a PC.

PrintStudio makes it possible to control Roland printers with a Mac computer. Michel Van Vliet, Product Manager at Roland DG Central Europe: "Demand for a RIP for Mac OS has increased greatly in recent years. Demand came from different areas. On the one hand from customers who are attached to the Mac OS interface and who use it as a standard in the IT environment of their business. On the other hand, there was demand from the high-end production market because this architecture is highly stable in production environments. Thanks to Roland PrintStudio we can now offer a solution to our customers who want to control their Roland printers from Apple computers. The software is almost ready for release and is expected to be available in March."

The software includes functions such as nesting and tiling. The software also has a profiling module. "We listened very carefully to the needs of our customers. A summary of all functionalities will be provided later, but I can already disclose that the RIP includes an APPE engine and a complete profiling module," says Van Vliet.

PrintStudio will be able to control the full range of Roland printers, including the popular VersaCAMM, SOLJET PRO4 and VersaUV series and the newest cutting plotter, the GS-24. Older models are also supported.

PrintStudio will be available as an option and will be supplied on a USB key. The software can be easily installed on any Mac. Installation instructions will be available in eight languages.

"Roland's philosophy is to always offer a complete solution. VersaWorks is a perfect example of this, but also the development of PrintStudio is designed to offer our customers a complete solution," concludes Van Vliet.
